<![CDATA[I volunteer at this shelter. They will tell you, whether you want to hear it or not, if they euthanize an animal. If they said it went out because of a broken leg, they are telling you the truth. The cockers are not in the general population because of their health and mistreatment. For all you wondering, the lady that had them was a foster parent with a rescue organization. She took in too many, got overwhelmed and let their health go. Animal control confiscated them. They all have eye infections, flea infestations and most are blind because the infections were left untreated. Some have skin growths common to Cocker Spaniels. The cockers are in a separate room labeled: Mistreated animals so that they can recover. They have all been shaved down and are being treated. THATS why they arent out for everyone to see. The same rescue has sent another foster family to inquire about picking up these dogs so they may never make it to general population. As for the small dogs, I was there this morning and adopted one of them and two ladies behind me were adopting two more. They do update their website several times a day, adding new dogs. BUT until a dog is actually picked up from the shelter (its a process) they are not removed from the website. Adopters must first pay the fee, fill out the paper work and then the dog is scheduled for its spay/neuter surgery. Once that is complete (about two days time) you can pick them up and they are removed from the website. They do have a high kill rate, per their own records which you can view on their website. This is because its a HUGE facility and EVERYONE seems to bring their animals there for drop off AND they pickup a large amount of strays. They are over loaded. If several rows of cages were lacking dogs, it might mean they were being walked, or bathed or treated for something. I was there this morning and almost all were full. Thats why its a good idea to call before going there, especially if you arent close by. Compared to other shelters, this one is awesome! For all who are wondering, the Yorkie is gone as well as the 2 shihtzus. Several others I can tell you have been adopted but not picked up since surgery so thats why they are still on the website.]]>

Their website is quite impressive. However, all small dogs (3 of them) were labeled "Adopted". I did not see any of the pure bred cockers that are on their web site either. In fact, there were no small dogs for adoption, and very few medium sized dogs available for adoption. The facility was very clean, but was nowhere near full. There were entire rows that contained no dogs at all. My guess is that they were about 1/4 occupied with adoptable pets. As their telephone number only reaches a recording, and their website is in dire need of updating, it is impossible to know whether the pet or pets you might be interesting in adopting are actually at the facility. My husband and I drove from Alpharetta to see a dog that was not there.]]>

I am currently not working a whole lot at this time as my buissness is very slow right now....so my income is very tight, BUT I could not bare to walk away from the sight of a momma and her pupps in the hands of neglectfull owners. They were abusing the momma and were starving her and her pups.... knowing what kind of shape they were in and the kind of conditions they were living in, I had to do something so I offered the man $100 to take them off his hands!! I gave him the money, he gave me the momma dog and her 2 pups, He even signed the momma dogs AKC/CKC papers over to me....the father was hit by a car as I was there so we lost our chance to save him :-( She and her pups are pure breed Min Pins (Miniature Pinschers). I have NEVER in my life, in plain sight , seen an animal soo skinny and bloated from worms as this dog and her pups were!! They are all skinny and boney with bloated belly's and were eat up with fleas so badly that they have lost some of their hair and have small flea infestation patches all over their bodies. The mom looks to have had an accident with her front right leg at the joint but not sure how bad it is...the bone is buldged out at the joint and she holds it up sometimes but seems to walk fine on it and there are no external abrassions around it! You can tell that she has not been fed in a long time and that the pups (3-5 weeks old) also had to fend for themselves (they are skin & bones too) due to the mom no longer able to produce milk because of being starved!! Any how to make an extremely long story short, I have only had them since Sunday (9-5-10) and they are allready looking and acting better!! They have had flea baths, will be wormed today and have been eating supplemental puppy milk along with dry puppy food...the mother and the pups! I am posting this ad to see if I can get anyone out there to help me get the mom spayed and her shots updated plus have her and her pups checked out by a vet. I am on a very low income right now as I stated earlier but I want to try and get these dogs healthy again and find them the very best home possible!! Once they are treated and I know they are healthy, they will be up for adoption and a home check and vet reffs checked before being placed...I can't bare the thought of them ever going through that again and I will make sure to keep an update on them and make sure they are being taken care of and going to the best home possible!! <![CDATA[Benson is the sweetest dog in the whole world! He is very protective and loving, and enjoys riding in the car and sleeping with you. Unfortunately, Benson does not like other animals. I honestly believe it is just him being protective, but he has attacked a dog for coming close to me. He has NEVER bit a human, and is amazing with kids. He let my 3 year old niece lay down and love all over him, and loves my 8 year old. I think he'd be a good dog for an older person just because of his protective and loving nature. Benson is 10 years old, and the only reason I am getting rid of him is because my fiance and I are moving in together and he has a dog. Benson is completely housebroken, and has been left alone (during a family emergency) for about 18 hours before with no issues. He does not chew on anything except his toys, and he knows "Leave it", "Sit", "Stay", "Go outside", etc. He knows what is HIS food, and he won't get into your trash or anything like that. It honestly is breaking my heart to get rid of my baby, but I feel like he would be so much happier with someone who has no other pets. He adjusts well, and he will love you to pieces! I know he has many more years left to bless someone with his company. <![CDATA[I found this cat sitting outside my apartment building and he walked right up to me and tried to follow me into my house, so I played with him, the only thing is my fiancee is alergic to cats so i would keep him, he is maybe 10-11 months old, orange and white, not neutered(his balls are dropped but not big enough to be a year old yet), still has his claws very sweet! he loves men and likes to rub thier cheek with his paw, he is super cuddly and loves to snuggle, he has no fleas, and is very clean, litter box trained plays catch and run.
