However, after we paid the rehoming fee we took him to our vet only to discover his has heartworm disease. It broke our hearts and he is already started on treatment through a Lowell vet. However, after consideration and planning a wedding we're realizing that we just can't take care of him AND afford the medical costs. He's so beautiful and it breaks our hearts to let him go. I'm hoping someone out there is looking for a 2.5 year old beagle and can afford to treat him. The vet told us she has NEVER heard of a case of heartworm that didn't disappear after treatment. Buddy should really be the only dog in the house because during his treatment injections he needs to remain calm. He is crazy with my dog now- loves to play! ]]>

<![CDATA[These two gorgeous gals are Lizzy and Lovey. They will be coming all the way from rural Arkansas this weekend in order to find loving forever homes and their foster parents wanted to get the word out ahead of time! They are both wonderfully loving, intelligent, and beautiful dogs, about 6 months old. At the rescue, they live with LOTS of other dogs - big, small, old, young....- have been taught some basic doggie manners and were taught to "hold it" in their crates. They are both exceptionally sweet dogs, easily trained, and simply love life - what more could one ask for in a companion! They definitely have lab in them and if they're anything like their sister who's already living the good life in her new home in Boston, they will LOVE the water! We are not sure what else they have in them since they have changed dramatically in their appearance since first being abandoned but only care that they have A+ temperaments and will soon be out of Arkansas. <![CDATA[Pippin( pic 1) and Pumpkin( pic 2) are two very lucky little boys. Animal control was called in a couple of months ago to remove them from someone's property. Clearly these boys were feral and had not had any human contact in their short little lives. They were hissing like crazy because they were so frightened and they had every right to be as they were being brought to a vet to be euthanized ! They were only about 10 weeks old but with all the shelters overflowing with friendly cats and kittens that can't find homes, there was no place for these special needs babies to go. The vet did not want to kill these babies either, she called our shelter just hoping maybe we could help. We are just as full but the thought of healthy kittens being killed, we couldn't say no without at least trying first. So here we have Pumpkin and Pippin. They are about 4.5 months old now and we have fully vetted them. They are neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, deflead and FIV/FELV negative. Both are still frightened but are making progress They do not bite or scratch and are not aggressive, just terribly scared. They do still hiss when first approaching their cages and you have to scruff them to hold them and pet them with your other hand. Both LOVE LOVE playing with toys and other cats too ! Pippin is much easier to handle than Pumpkin. I can hold Pippin in my arms and he will purr and close his eyes. Pumpkin is still very nervous to be held but he still enjoys being pet and playing in his cage and his purr is loud once he settles down :-) There is Soooo much hope for these boys to come around to bond to that special angel(s) who has the room in their heart and home for one or both of them. We need someone with experience to adopt them who has the time to continue the socialization process. They only get limited attention at the shelter as we have over 50 cats right now :-( PLEASE PLEASE CONSIDER the window of opportunity for proper socialization is closing in on these boys each day they stay here. I have been trying for 2 months to get them adopted. They have been listed all over CL many times and are on Petfinder and other pet related websites. They will soon be deemed unadoptable if the right home(s) don't come soon. But at least I tried unlike the other shelter who gave them an automatic death sentence :-( They do NOT have to be adopted together as they have been seperated into different cages now as they were getting to big to share one, and they haven't had contact with each other now in about a month anyway. The kittens would need to be kept in a small room, like a bathroom or a dog crate in order for you to work with them. You can't just let them free in a house or they will just hide and NOT come out. They need to slowly be acclimated to a new environment. It could take another month or more before they become fully socialized and it will only happen if the proper process followed. They CANNOT go outside or you will never see them again. In general, feral boy kittens come around faster than feral girl kittens. And these boys have the 'orange tabby gene. For all you orange cat lovers you know what that means...rumor has it that orange male cats are the most affectionate of all the domestic breeds. These boys just need someone who has the time and patience to work with them so they can bloom into the lovable adult cats they are meant to be...For those who have done this in the past,you know how strong the bond between you and a former feral cat/kitten can be. The shelter is in RI only 1 hour south of Boston and there will only be a $30 total fee for the right approved home willing to take both kittens or $15 for one. <![CDATA[My male brindle boxer was stolen out of my neighborhood on april 11th 2010 and is still missing the heavy set light skinned black women that took him went to the local gas station (lowlowlow in cotuit) and had my boxer in her front seat she told the gas attendant that she found and if anyone was looking for him to call "eva" at 5082503875. i called her a million times and 4 hours later she text me saying that she dropped him off somewhere and didnt know where because she wasnt from the area eventaully she claimed to have dropped him off at the mspca in centerville and that they were closed so if he wasnt in a "caged kennel outside them someone else must have stolen him" which was a lie because the mspca wasnt closed for another 2 hours from the time she claimed to have brought him there and even if they were closed someone would always be there to check on the animals.Justus(my boxer) almost a year and a half at the time and he weight 56lbs not neutored he has a white chest and boots also a white spot on his nose and on the back of his neck about upto 1inch long his dew claws and tail were clipped. i begged and offered this women anyhting she wanted for him to be returned but she continued to lie and 3 days later she had her phone number changed. i found out that the phone was registered to a lynden wright in medway ma but later found out that he hadnt resided there in over a year. My life as been hell since hes been gone. ive been gettin prank calls of him being run over and i even got an attempted extortsion and a claim that eva and lynden were coming after me. I beg for any information anyone may know about these people they prob dont live on cape but they know people that do because "eva" claimed she was going to a birthday party on cape that day. <![CDATA[My husband's allergies have gotten worse and we must give up our two wonderful female cats. We would love them to be together but they could be separated. Cyd is almost 8 months old, and Georgy is about 2. They are loving and well-behaved. Cyd was born with some deformities in her legs but they do not affect her health and she is very active. They are spayed, up-to-date on shots, and come with a litter box, cat perch, 2 cat carriers, and a small "cat condo", along with some toys and scratch posts.
