A little about myself I am a 31year old male who tries to enjoy life in between my busy work schedule. I have a 7 year old son who is with me every other weekend but we are not around much on the weekends and most of the time we spend the weekends at my parents when he is with me. The house is a 2 story 3 bedroom 2 bath house. The roommate would have rights to the kitchen and den, their own room and bathroom. The house also has a 2 car garage that is free since my full size truck will not fit inside. I own a landscape company so the yard is maintained and I like to keep a nice clean home. There are 2 current male residents and 1 couple, all between 21-23, 2 of whom are currently attending a university. Neighborhood is super friendly and is very close by fire and police services. No tobacco smoking is allowed inside the house. There is currently one cat in the house, and other pets are allowed as long as they are house trained and well mannered. The house has a decent sized front, back, and side yard, but none of which are fenced in. We also have a very large back deck. Room itself is $280/month as described, and utilities run $80-$125 a month, depending on gas or A/C usage (summers and winters can get pricey). As for the room, it is approximately 11'x13' and has a walk-in closet that is 8'x4'6". Room is not furnished, and has direct internet and cable lines (also have wireless internet setup). We currently have AT&T's Uverse service for our internet, and we have basic cable service. The bathroom is shared with one of the roommates. <![CDATA[PLACES AND AREAS WHERE SUMMER INTERNS SHOULD AVOID LIVING IN MIDTOWN ATLANTA 1. HOME PARK - a residential neighborhood north of Georgia Tech. Home Park is a dimly lit and dark neighborhood with lots of trees and bushes and is mostly occupied by Georgia Tech international students on a budget and who generally aren't concerned about the crime because they don't have autos - or not nice ones - and don't have anything of value. (You can only bring so much from overseas). The neighborhood newsletter dated Dec. 4, 2008 discussed the latest crime wave in Home Park: �This report is particularly scary. The usual car thefts & thefts from cars are bad enough, but the home invasion & burglaries, with doors kicked in, are particularly unsettling. I know these sorts of events have happened here before, but it seems more common now.� One comment from a recent neighborhood newsletter: �My wife and I have been seeing evil looking dudes lingering throughout the neighborhood, However, I don�t think we should cower in our houses until things change. This climate of lawlessness could be seen coming for quite some time.� And the police issued recent a alert on how to stay safe in Home Park including making sure that someone accompanies or watches you from the driveway to the front door. I guess if you are without a car you are really out of luck. A portion of the alert states: �Also, please have your family, friends, and neighbors to blow their horn when arriving. This allows us to watch for them until they arrive, inside, safely. Open the window dressings and hi-light them with a flash-light. Thus, the criminal element would be aware that someone is watching!� Crime is so bad that the police warn you to not linger in the driveway or walk on the sidewalk at night. See the following, � Furthermore, we have to minimize just visiting in the drive way, or sidewalks, at nights. I know that this is unfair, but the criminals are becoming more brazen and this is their method of attack. Patrols are not as common as they were in the past, as a result of furloughs.� I guess this means that if the police are recommending against hanging out in the driveway talking, then they are recommending against walking in the neighborhood. So if you don�t have a care, you are out of luck � the only option to get out of the neighborhood is to walk down those shadowy, dark streets and cross your fingers that the crack addict with the guns don�t see you. It is ideal pickings for the crack addicted hoodlums on bicycles cruising late at night under the cover of the dimly lit streets and bushes and trees looking for copper, auto radios, anything in a car, and the watches and billfolds of drunk and sober pedestrians. Many of the back yards have no fences or negligible fences and the crackheads can move around and through the dark yards and backyards at will. And if the opportunity presents itself - climb into a back window or kick in a door. I've known more than one person who awoke and met an uninvited guest in his house. The area is barely patrolled by the police - the transient nature of the neighborhood lacks sufficient political clout to get police to patrol as needed. Note the ritzy neighborhoods of Buckhead are not lacking for police protection. Also all the police in area seem to be over in the warehouse district - the mayor's pet redevelopment project. It doesn't make any sense since there aren't many places to live over there - just businesses and restaurants and bars. Why can't the police patrol where people live? So in Home Park, car break-in's are frequent - not a place to park a nice car. House break-in's are not unusual and muggings, stick-up's, home invasions with guns, and rapes are reported from time to time. And it's not really convenient to public transportation because, from its heart, it still a hike to a main thoroughfare for public transportation. To any North-South bus connection it's a 30 minutes hike. If you live in the heart of Home Park a walk to a bus going East-West is still about 10, 15, or 20 minutes. You would think it is convenient and safe but is not. The folks trying to sublet their rooms, houses, apartments are desperate. They know the truth. They know they wouldn't be there but for they made the mistake of signing a lease - they made the mistake they are trying to get you to make, assume it's okay because a lot of students already live there. But they won' tell you the truth about the crime or the utilities - which is another common lie. They cite utility bills from fall and spring when air conditioners are not in use. But to get and keep those poorly insulated early 20 th century houses cool in a hot Atlanta summer takes about three or four times the electricity they tell you. Some of the hucksters trying to hoodwink you so they can get 2 or 3 months rent from you don't disclose the location is Home Park - they just use street names. Streets in Home Park include: Tumlin, McMillan, Center, Hemphill, Lynch, Curran, Ethel, State, Francis, Holly. Those streets are all in the middle of the LAWLESSNESS OF HOME PARK. 2. COLLEGE ORIENTED APARTMENT COMPLEXES (Metropointe, the Flats and Icon at Atlantic Station, M Street, 100 Midtown and others). Before you get sucked in with their nice web sites and photos and claims of amenities and safety, you should read the reviews. WATER RUNS OUT OF THE SOCKETS AND LIGHT SWITCH AT TIMES.� �These kids do NOTHING but throw parties and scream ALL NIGHT LONG!!!� �This place is unsafe and if you ask management to do anything they are non-responsive or expect you to do their jobs for them.� �The most ridiculous place I have ever lived.� �The design is great but don't let looks deceive you.� �The place itself is nicely designed, but I do agree it's rather cheaply constructed.� �The fire alarm in the apartments and in the hallways are constantly going off for no reason� �However, the fact that I can hear everything the person in the room above me does gets old. I can honestly hear him talk on the phone, play guitar, watch TV, every step he takes, anything.� �Do not be fooled by the staff when they make out it is a nice place to live because I was and it is not a pleasant place to live at all. In fact, I will go as far to say that it is a nightmare.� �My car got broken into in May of 2007, and both my CD player and several of my CDs were taken. Before that, another of my roommates, Tara (name changed) had her Wiimote stolen, and my next-door neighbours and friends had their game systems taken right out of their living room. Theft is a big problem, and none of the security cameras work.� �But more often than not, I, and every other person in the complex, would wake up at two o'clock in the morning to hear a cacophonous symphony of fire alarms going off.� �Also, the door in the gate at the front of the building was stuck open for a day or two, leaving the complex open for anyone that wanted to come in. I was told before I moved in that a few nights a week they had a night guard around the parking deck for extra security. I've seen him once in almost four months.� �The management staff is a laugh and a half. They are almost as competent as the Three Stooges.� �I've had maintenance men come in and out of here without any sort of notification before hand. Managers will tell you one thing one day, then change their mind the next.� �i really wish i would not have moved in here its not really worth the money and ppl are very loud and annoying.� �I normally don't mind parking on the second floor and walking down the stairs, but when I've got a lot to carry or have to park on the fifth floor then walk to my apartment on the first floor I get aggravated. The elevator is extremely slow, so its usually not worth the time to wait.� �Guest parking is a joke. It is impossible to have friends over now because they know what a hassle it is.� �Loud people yelling all the time, bratty kids screaming in the pool, rap music rattling the apartments, drunk people wandering around the courtyard at all hours� �The courtyard/pool area is a zoo. Loud and roudy tenants/guests congregate at late hours and make noise.� The water billing company charged us an "estimated bill" for water even though they had an electronic meter reader. I was out of town for a whole month and they estimated I used 2500 gallons of water� "security guard" and a "security gate"...both of which are usually not working and utterly useless pieces of garbage.� �The security guard is useless - lots of break-ins and the parking garage gate breaks often.� �One other noise issue is that the pool for the complex is centered between the four buildings in such a way that the noise from below echoes off the buildings.� �EACH UNIT IS SO POORLY DESIGNED, IT IS FALLING APART.� �This place has an awesome appearance and seems very cool from the outside but the management is terrible and it truly is a horrible place to live.� �Very big party atmosphere with tenants who don't take care of anything (someone actually urinated in the elevator)�. ]]>

And CHOW BABY �Best in Atlanta� for a first date. Several interior decorating shops have been voted "best in Atlanta" but since I don't keep up with them, I cannot tell you which ones. And if the neighborhood were not safe, all the above economic and social activity wouldn�t be happening. Real estate sells for $ 2.0 millions per acre - not exactly an indication of a crime ridden neighborhood.
