I'm nearing the end of my college career and realizing that one day I will want a new car and will want to stop throwing money away on rent and actually start building equity. I got a copy of my three credit reports (ay carumba!) and have started the process of disputing some negative items, but am wondering what more I can do. Specifically, I had two credit cards that I defaulted on years ago (stupid idiot!) and I settled with whatever creditors purchased the debt and paid them off. Is there any way to get "paid in full, closed" accounts off of my credit reports or am I stuck with these blemishes for a while? I really, really want to start building my credit score now. I'm not a financial disaster, although the current state of my credit reports would beg to differ. I have a good, steady income; I can and do pay all of my bills. Problem is that everything I'm paying is doing nothing to boost my score. Ideally I would love to meet someone who is willing to piggyback me on credit cards that have a solid history and high limit so that my debt ratio will decrease. And for the record, the only debt I have is student loan debt - even my car is paid in full. I think that is the only way that anyone will offer me a credit card of my own again so that I can actually start cleaning up the mess I've created. Looking forward to hearing from ya!]]>

An introduction: (be prepared, it's a long one) I know this is a bit unorthodox, but I figured I'd give it a try anyway. I'm just trying to meet someone who I can connect with on a deeper level than, "Hi, I liked your ad, take a look at mine on somedatingsite.com". What the hell, right? I don't really care where on earth this woman is but I'd like to meet her. I�ve got wonderfully complex stories to tell. Now, for a little bit about me. Be warned, like my ad, I am a bit unorthodox myself. Hopefully there is a woman out there who will appreciate the sentiment. I'll start off with all of the attributes that people seem to shy away from. I am a loser, it's true I have loved and lost. I am a liar, it's true that everyone has been at one time or another in their lives, I am no different and neither are you. I smoke, but nothing illegal these days. Drugs were an experiment in my younger days. I don't drink (much), but not because I lack the propensity for addiction, but because when I have more than a few, I get a headache. So I choose not to drink unless in a social situation, and then only maybe one drink. I've always been the designated driver of the crowds I frequent, and I don't feel I miss much considering I do not need the liquid confidence. I take a liking to tequila, and I love Yuengling black and tan and the occasional pint of Guinness. I hate people sometimes, mostly stupid people. I hate people who blame others for their own flaws and bad decisions. I hate it when people who get lung cancer blame cigarette companies, and I hate it when morbidly obese people sue McDonald's because they weigh 450 pounds. No one makes people smoke. No once makes people eat 3 cheeseburgers and a bucket of fries for every meal. The problem with people is that they take no responsibility for their own lives, there's always someone else to blame for their problems, and that's all bullshit. People lack the conviction to make their own choices and live with them, and that pisses me off. And I hate politics. Not because I'm unpatriotic, but because there is usually no one I care to have represented me enough for me to care. Why is it my civic duty to vote for some moron only concerned with his or her own personal gain? I've served my country. Isn't 5 years in the military enough? I am shallow mostly, appearances are important to me, and as long as there are people in my life that know me well enough to know what is really in my heart, I am content in rarely showing it to anyone outside of those people. If you want to be that close to me, you have only but to ask. I love things that are pretty. I love art, and colors, and black and white pictures. I dislike unkept people, or people who do not care about their appearance, or people who do not appreciate things that are pretty. I do not think the people in magazines or television are authorities on what is pretty, or what I think pretty is. When I look at a woman, I will know if she is pretty or not, and this will have nothing at all to do with what I see on TV. I pity people who live in the MTV world, or who believe that life is for them. Life is what you make of it. I am open to people, even though I know my relationships with them will end up disappointing me later because I need them, even though I act like I do not. I am needy, affectionate, and content to do nothing but lay around with whomever I am needing at any given time. I am nerdy. I like sci-fi movies and television shows, I went to DragonCon, but I didn't dress up so I'm not a total loser. I am indecisive. I make decisions impulsively without the benefit of forethought. I am spontaneous because I do not attempt to plan too far ahead of where I am pointed in the present. And I like it that way. I like not knowing where I want to eat tomorrow, or what I will be doing this time next year. I am a college dropout, though not in the way most think of when they hear it said that way. I don't have a degree, but I will bet my ridiculous paycheck that I know more things than your average college graduate. And though they may drive a BMW by now, they will forever be bound to what they've worked so hard to get. For as smart as they appear to be, they cannot dream. I am a dreamer. I literally daydream. I don't know if dreaming will make me rich or bring my notoriety, but when I do it, I gain some measure of fulfillment in my life, even though my life is not yet fulfilled. I don't allow credit to determine where I go or what I do in my life. I pay my bills, but I usually forget to pay them on time. And for that, I am denied the thrill of driving a BMW. So sad. My credit is good enough for me to have bought a house, and of that I am proud, but my credit score is nowhere near 700. I'm not one of those adventurous guys you read about. I'm a couch potato. I like to chill out, in a quiet setting and reflect on the things that bring me joy. I am well traveled, and there is plenty that I want to see before I die, but I'll never be accused of being the type "A" sort of Mr. wonderful so many women claim they are looking for. I like theme music. Theatrical soundtrack scores, a form of orchestra that does not make me nauseous. I also like trance, dance, and techno. I HATE what hip hop has become now. I hate Atlanta, Ga. and I wish to leave this wretched state someday. I am an artist who constantly searches for inspiration and ways to make something ordinary beautiful to whomever looks at it. My artistic expression had been suppressed for much of my life as I toiled away doing what I was taught was what I was supposed to do. It�s only when you�ve seemingly lost everything that you take the time to recognize what cannot be taken, or lost too easily. I am a pleasantly flawed man. The one thing I didn't realize until I got older, was that a person's flaws don�t define their life. So, instead of hiding my flaws, I share them. And whether I meet a woman who will become my life partner, a woman who will be my friend, or I don't meet anyone at all, at least I can be real, and honest with myself before I require anyone to be honest with me. Many years ago, I married the wrong person, but I didn't know it then. The only good that came of it was a child that I love more than anything. What do you do when you know things will end, but you haven't gotten there yet? It's coming, and there's nothing I can do about it, and I'm resolved to that inevitability. So where is it written that a man, that is married, cannot enjoy the company of a woman on a regular basis? All I seem to get is the belief that I am up to no good, or that I am somehow damaged or flawed goods because my relationship has gone sour. Someone once told me, one of my very good friends in fact that at the very least, being divorced after a marriage of several years, shows that I have the capacity to love, be faithful, and passionate about every aspect of a relationship enough to have gotten married once. It is true, I was there and that shit went sideways. Where this relationship carries me is unknown, but I'm no longer going to pout about it. I'm getting on with my life, but it'll be a long road. I must say that I care about my health and what goes into my body but I'm no health nut or vegan. I love my red meat, there is no shame in imbibing a hearty helping of fillet mignon with a great big baked potato loaded with everything, and an ice cold Samuel Adams, once a month or so. But, as I said, I am really starting to care about what I put into my body. Have you seen Food Inc.? That shit is sobering. There is so much crap in what we eat nowadays and I'm not so sure my body agrees with all the glutens and unnatural fats found in virtually everything we eat. I love Arby's, but lately I've found myself shopping in Whole Food's more, and damn is it expensive. I think that is what is so hard about eating right, it's very expensive but I feel better about eating more organically grown foods and products made with little or no preservatives more than eating out (which I ABSOLUTELY love, and still do). I keep a great balance, and my recent physical shows it. At my age, I have to watch it, and I never thought I'd ever hear (or read) myself say (or type) those words, but it's true and I'm not stupid. Race is irrelevant, but naturally I have, over the years, developed my preferences after dating most of the 'common' races. And I've found that I prefer more 'uncommon' ethnicities and cultures. I am multiracial and multicultural, so I have no real problem with any race. But, I tend to gravitate more toward women who are like me, with a light complexion or fair skinned like me. That's a preference though, and preferences can change (I just thought I'd mention mine), but all races are welcome. The one thing that I must insist you have is an open-mind, otherwise you will find yourself quite uncomfortable because fopa's and taboo's don't phase me in the slightest. I wrote this ad because despite my flaws, and those of the next person fortunate enough to be included in my life [fortunate for both myself and her], I still need the touch and company of a woman who looks at the world as I do. Finally, I am not including a picture of myself in this ad (perhaps for obvious reasons), and I don't want to harp on it much but, I had a woman reply to one of my ads in horribly broken English that, women on cl only respond to ads with pictures, to which I replied that is the stupidest shit I have ever heard and if that's the case then I guess I'm wasting my time because I'm not looking for that sort of woman. Anyway, if you want to see what I look like, have some courtesy and send a picture of yourself in your reply, don't just reply asking for one. This isn't a buffet or something, you're replying to my ad, remember. And if you're here to rate or comment on pictures, you should refrain from replying and move on. It don't matter if you are married, have kids, etc. Just keep in mind that I am looking for a good/best friend, meaning someone to actually HANG OUT with. <![CDATA[Dear Friend: Over the past 15 months, I have truly discovered the joy of working out. Have you ever tried to play tennis or racket ball with someone, to find that they are always at a different level than you are? To my chagrin, that is kind of where I am at today with my Gym work. My personal trainer has taught me what to do, and now it's my job to maintain. I work out 4 to 5 days a week via a variety of methods, walk/run in water, use circuit weights, use free weights, Yoga, as well as aerobic exercise outside of water. I am looking for someone around my age that is functionally at the same level as I am, to be my work-out friend and personal motivator. Just for the record, I am a GWM/51/235 lbs/ but not really interested in anything except for working out and watching sports together. I need a work-out Buddy, and to be honest, a straight Buddy is fine too. What I really am looking for is someone who cares as much about getting back in shape or staying in shape as I am.
