Thank you in advance for your time. I am looking for some volunteer artists whom might be interested in preforming at some free events dedicated to the music. These parties will be free of charge for anyone to attend and possibly a great way to get your name out. Think you got what it takes? Then send me your demos. Demos need to be a continuous mix of underground dance or hip hop. No top 40 remixes allowed here. This is solely for the underground movement of artists doing it for the music. Thanks for you attention I look forward to your responses. Please email me with anyquestions you might have. Feel free to forward this to others that might be interested.

In Reykjavik you can experience easily the pure energy at the heart of Iceland's capital city - whether from the boiling thermal energy underground, the natural green energy within the city and around it. Think of the qualities of a great city - fun, space, clean air, nature, culture - and Reykjavik has them in spades. It has the features of a modern, forward-looking society which are complemented by a close connection to beautiful nature.
The population of the Reykjavik Capital Area is about 200,000. Reykjavik is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean on almost all sides. On a sunny day, the mystical Snaefellsjokull glacier appears crystal-like on the western horizon, while mountainous moonscapes spread to the southeast.
The volunteers will be hosted by the City of Reykjavik and their task is to help the local authorities to make the city center a better place to stay. The library project was then established to provide these services, including providing information of concern to young people about current issues in the form of brochures, books, magazines, videos, etc. The project site, which is still under construction, is also expecting to have an Internet café to offer access to information for youth and the entire community.
The Community Library is located in Chamazi area, near Dar es Salaam. Poverty is very visible in this community.
Volunteers will be working in the library to assist other staff in receiving, issuing, shelving and stocking books. Volunteers are expected to support the marketing of the Library, fundraising, and identification of possible interested organizations to provide useful periodicals, journals, and books related to the needs of the users in the community.
Working hours are Monday to Friday for six hours a day. The library will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Special requirements: Volunteers on this project must be independent and able to work with less supervision and sometimes under pressure. No specific skills are required, but the volunteers should have an interest in education, and in working with young people and children.
Duration of the project: The middle-term volunteer projects have a minimum duration of four weeks (one month) and a maximum duration of twelve weeks (three months).
May 24 - June 3, 2010

This project has been running successfully since 2004. The Youth House School is a small education center for disadvantaged street children and children coming from a poor fishing village, located in the outskirts of Hanoi. The international volunteers will help run the school and will be responsible for keeping the school clean, cooking free lunch for the children, and teaching them basic things about their countries, health, etc. The volunteers will also organize some leisure activities for youth after school. This is a time for cultural exchange and embracing new relationships. The international volunteers will work together with a team of local volunteers, led by a group leader. The volunteers will teach around 15 children every day. Remember, the children are not used to rules and structure in their households, so volunteers must try to implement this by setting an example. The Youth House is also a place where young local people and international volunteers come to explore the cultural diversity, by teaching the children together or organizing leisure activities, such as taking the children to the swimming pool.
These activities are combined with projects to help disadvantaged people at the Fisher Village, who are very poor and live in slum-boats on the Red river. This is done by giving them food, medicines, water filters (for clean drinking water), toothpaste, second-hand warm clothes and free showers in winter, etc.
The Red River is the biggest river in Vietnam. The delta is located in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The city continues to expand with many people coming from the countryside into the urban area. This however, is an expensive endeavor with the government imposing a tax on people coming from the rural area to prevent a massive influx of people. Some people decide however to come despite this financial situation and thus must live in house boats at the river to escape from having to pay. Since they do not technically live in Hanoi they must pay for school which is usually free until the age of 12. The entire family must work hours that most people would consider inhumane. The children wander the streets begging and collecting rubbish. An entire family barely makes $2 a day.

For more info and enrollment, please go to: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-vietnam.htm

To learn more about the international volunteer workcamps go to: www.cadip.org/workcamp.htm or give us a call:
 617-502-0400

 604-628-7400

Music, education and cultural exchange program for Korean children
Samcheok, Gangwon
June 2 - August 20, 2010
September 1 - November 26, 2010

Samcheok is a city of tourism with beautiful beaches and a cave. But the standard of living is poor and especially, education facilities are not enough for the local community. The host organization is a local church and they run local children's center to provide educational and cultural opportunities to children. They offer not only studying with books but also various extracurricular activities to them. Musical team and Korean traditional music performance team, which are particular offering of this center, perform a road show for local people. The host wants to give the kids an intercultural experience through the volunteers' participation. You can also feel the typical warmth and kindness of rural Korean community.

Volunteer work: Together with Korean volunteer(s), the international participants will organize and manage cultural and education programs such as foreign languages (mainly English), outdoor activities, etc. for the children who attend the local Children's Center. These items can be taken to 1060 Al Bishop Drive SW, Marietta. Phone number is 770-499-4136. Your donations can be dropped off Tuesday thru Saturday 9:30am - 5:30 pm, Sunday 2-5pm, closed Monday. If you would like to spend a few hours each week walking the dogs, this is very much needed and FUN. Please DO NOT reply to this email but contact the Cobb County Animal Shelter with any question (770-499-4136) or just drop off your donations during the hours mentioned above. What this gives you is a machine with PC power and equivalent graphics that plays on your television screen. Imagine a P4 2 GHz machine with buckets of memory and a GeForce 3 card with all the extra options--such as tri-linear, bump mapping and shadows--turned on and you might start to get close on the graphics. The set video pieces are like something out of the Final Fantasy movie and are far above anything previously seen on a console.

The eye candy doesn't stop with the cinematic sequences. Once you start playing the games themselves they ooze creativity and atmosphere. Titles such as Halo and Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey show a graphical style that make them simply the best-looking console games you will see on your TV.

It is not only graphics that Microsoft has gone to great pains to get right. Sound plays a huge part in the immersive atmosphere that the console is aiming for. To this end the Xbox boasts 256 audio channels as well as supporting Dolby Digital and Dolby Surround which all combine to give you an unrivalled audio experience. You will almost feel the bullets whizzing over your head from all directions in Halo.

The system also supports DVD playback which is accessed by a remote control sold separately. This is a good thing because you don't have to faff around pausing movies with the right trigger or left d-pad.

In Xbox you get the gaming capabilities of a top of the range PC with all the extras. You can't do your monthly accounts on it or edit your home movies but this machine is for playing with and that's what it excels at.

New gamers intuitively move the controller while playing, even though that movement has traditionally had no relation to what's going on in the game. Sony has picked up on this tendency and is using it to bring a new level of control into the PS3. Inside the controller is a high-precision six-axis sensing system that accurately detects fine movements in pitch, roll, and yaw, as well as three dimensions of movement, to control games. This means that future PS3 games will be controlled by the movements of your hands rather than just your thumbs. For example, you might be able to steer a car by holding the controller like a steering wheel.

SafeRide America is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to prevent all types of impaired driving while assisting children that have been orphaned or injured by an impaired driving crash through SafeFund. Our objectives are to raise money for these young victims of impaired driving through traditional fundraising efforts; to measurably reduce impaired driving incidences (crashes, injuries, and deaths); and to protect the general public by providing a viable alternative to driving while impaired by preventing impaired driving tragedies before they happen.

We need your help with FUN-raising. Community service hours will be awarded. We have created an awareness program to encourage responsible driving. By using magnets on cars as message boards, we can reduce the number of impaired driving accidents by reminding everyone to drive safely. Our cause magnets are ribbon-shaped and the size is about 8 by 3 inches, with the message 'Never Drive Impaired'.

We welcome everyone's help, however, if you are serving community service hours, your assignment would be simple: talk to everyone you know to remind them to never drive impaired as well as about SafeRide's mission to prevent impaired driving. We call it FUN-raising because it really can be fun! Ask for a small donation, as little as $5, to go toward funding local start-up costs in exchange for a cause magnet for them to display on their vehicle. We will send you a timesheet to keep track of your hours and we will provide a letter (at no cost to you) on our letterhead verifying your volunteer hours for whomever necessary. Living with Depression

Are you having symptoms of depression?

If you’re continuously sad, with little energy and a lack of interest in the things you love, and you’ve had these symptoms for at least two weeks, you may be able to help doctors conduct a medical research study of an investigational medication.

Symptoms of major depressive disorder (MDD) can include feelings of sadness, guilt, or worthlessness. People with MDD may also have fatigue, a lack of interest in daily activities, weight loss/gain, sleep issues, and difficulty concentrating. And depression is more common than you might think: according to some studies, as many as one in six people in the United States will be affected in their lifetime by MDD. Although current antidepressant drugs are often effective, they do not always improve all of the symptoms of depression. As a result, alternative MDD treatment options are still being investigated. Local doctors are now conducting a medical research study evaluating an investigational medication in combination with an approved antidepressant for the treatment of MDD. To pre-qualify for this study, you must:

• Be 18 to 55 years of age, AND
• Be diagnosed prior to entering the study with non-psychotic MDD, AND
• Not be receiving treatment for your current depressive episode, OR
• Be receiving treatment but still experiencing symptoms of depression.

Qualified participants will receive study-related medical evaluations and study medication at no cost. In addition, reimbursement for time and travel may also be provided.

SafeRide America needs volunteers this weekend to help accomplish its mission.

If you can drive a car you are perfect for our needs. There is no prior orientation, just show up and we'll get you started.

We need volunteer drivers to drive their own cars (gas is reimbursed @ $5 per ride and mileage is tax-deductible) to act as chase car drivers from 8pm to 4am. Here's a breakdown of what you'll be doing. When you arrive at our office, you'll be partnered up with a SafeRide employee. You will drive the employee in your car to a location we have been called to. You drop off the employee, the employee drives the client home in the client's car and you follow along. Then you pick up the employee and go on to the next requested location. It's that easy.

If you can't drive, we also have various events and festivals with which we need help.

Singles for Service combines traditional online dating with community service projects. Our goal is simple – to help good people meet good people, while doing good things. What could be better than that?

Traditional online dating can be an exercise in frustration. No matter how good someone’s profile looks or how great a match the computer says you are, you really don’t know anything about someone until you meet them face to face. That means going on date after date, which can be stressful, expensive, and emotionally exhausting. And unfortunately, there are just too many dishonest people out there diluting the pool, so finding the good ones can be a major challenge.

At Singles for Service we believe that to build a successful relationship with someone you need to get to know the real them, and they need to get to know the real you. There is no better way to do that then by working with someone side by side to help the community. You don’t have to worry about what you’re going to wear, where you’re going to go, or who is going to pay. You can just be yourself. Our events create a positive atmosphere that brings out the best in people and helps to break the ice.

Using the website you can learn about other members, send them private messages, and even invite them to events. You can also see who is registered for an event and meet them BEFORE they even know you’re interested.

Every event is also followed by a social at a local establishment that gives our members a chance to get to know each other better.

If you’re looking for a better way to meet quality singles, you’ve found it. Create your profile today and get free membership including access to all our events for free, for 3 months. No credit card or obligation required.

Do you routinely handle drug vials at work? We'd like to hear your opinions on drug vial labeling and messages.

There is a recent proposal to limit the types of labeling allowed on drug vial ferrules and cap overseals. This brief survey represents an effort to include health care providers in the decision making process for drug labeling standards and guidelines and should take just a minute or two to complete. We hope you can find the time to fill it out.

Please visit this link to answer just 3 questions about your preferences: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/healthcaresurveyMarch2010

More information: If the new drug labeling proposal becomes a new standard, some of the messages you are accustomed to seeing on the top surface of drug vials (e.g., drug name, dose, cold chain information) may no longer be allowed. In order to determine if the proposal has merit we are attempting to collect information and feedback from health care providers who routinely handle drug vials (during receipt, storage, injection preparation or injection administration). We believe that any new standard or regulation pertaining to the types of messages, cautionary statements and warnings printed on drug vial ferrules and cap overseals should be driven by the needs and experiences of the end users, such as yourself.

Thank you!

If you need to rack up a lot of volunteer hours quickly, we can help. SafeRide America has opportunities available to fit everyone's schedule. We need the most help with SafeRide operations, which runs 7 nights a week, from 8pm to 4am during the week and 4pm - 4am on the weekends. Monday through Friday, we have office positions available, from 10 am to 6pm. We already have events booked for various weekends during February and March and we will need help running our 'Guess Your BAC Level & Win a Prize' booth as well as providing rides home after the event.

SafeRide America is a 501(c)3 nonprofit public service agency headquartered in Atlanta. The mission of SafeRide America is to proactively prevent all types of impaired driving and to provide assistance to children that have lost one or both parents in an impaired driving accident and to children that have been injured by an impaired driver.

We serve public safety by providing proactive transportation solutions to help eliminate the two most common excuses given by impaired drivers: money and having their car with them. To accomplish this goal we created SafeRide, a year round program dedicated to driving impaired individuals AND their cars for them. This program's core objective is to prevent impaired driving tragedies before they happen.

We need volunteer drivers to drive their own cars (gas is reimbursed @ $5 per ride) to act as chase car drivers from 8pm to 4am. Here's a breakdown of what you'll be doing. When you arrive at our office, you'll be partnered up with a SafeRide employee. You will drive the employee in your car to a location we have been called to. You drop off the employee, the employee drives the client home and you follow along. Then you pick up the employee and go on to the next requested location. It's that easy.

************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
A person stands in front of a window staring at the reflection, and wonders how it got this bad. In his reflection, he sees clothes that are threadbare, dirty shoes, and haggared skin that water has not touched for months. All that is left is the shell of a person who was once recognizable, and is now a stranger to himself. Feelings of warmth, comfort, and happiness are but distant memories.
He was once somebody's child. And nothing can eliminate the fear of laying his head to concrete every night, wondering who or what is around the corner, and if he will wake up the next morning. It is too much to bear. Without hope, many of our homeless continue down this road to despair...being lost…forever. Yet, if just one person helps this homeless person, then there will be a chance for him to get on the right path.
The ADTS thrift store exists for these very people. You see them on the street as you go to work, or when you sit down to watch the evening news. These are the people who need our help, and these are the people who need your help. Everyone deserves a second chance to live, and to give. So if you've passed that homeless person on the street, give him that second chance to live, and allow yourself a second chance to give!
Thrift Stores support more than 200 social programs that touch people in communities across the U.S.. You can help give hope today by looking in your closets, your homes, and your hearts, and donate today what will make a difference in someone else's life tomorrow!

Don't be scammed by the guy who writes 'I can offer you a quick and easy way to earn CS hours.'

I'm a former investigator for the Better Business Bureau and I've been looking into doing some volunteer work in the Atlanta area- I got too many speeding tickets and had to do 40 hours of community service. Along the way I found a lot of less-than-honorable organizations in Atlanta trying to sell community service hours to me. These organizations have been turned over to the IRS and probably won't be in business for much longer.

I sent emails to various nonprofits explaining that I had 40 hours of community service to earn, and several sent back replies stating that they didn't need my help, except for 'donations' and that it would cost anywhere from $80 to $800 in exchange for a letter stating that I had done 40 hours of community service for them. They wanted this money in cash, which instantly sent up red flags.

If someone offers community service hours in exchange for sending a kid to camp, a donation or for overnight fundraising (aka cash), it is a scam!!! Legitimate organizations will state their charity's name and how past donations have helped the community (and not just their bank accounts!).

When I contacted the IRS, they let me know that they are actively watching Craigslist, that these scandalous charities will be losing their 501(c)3 accreditation and the directors will be looking at time in prison. Also, EVERYONE WHO DID COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS THROUGH THESE CHARITIES WILL BE SUBJECT TO REVIEW AND POSSIBLE FRAUD CHARGES!!!

Unless you want to go to jail, just don't do it. It's not worth jail time to cut corners. You did what you did to deserve the having to earn community service hours and there are a lot of charities that need your help (time). The reason for posting this is I don't want someone who is unaware of the laws to get in more trouble than they already are in. The names of those who asked for cash include Rodney Henderson and Bill Chafin. I won't stop posting this until their ads are gone or until they are in jail.

The children, whose fathers or grandfathers were exposed (causing chromosomal damage) or who were contaminated from their mother’s milk, suffer from a range of difficult conditions. While staying in Vietnam Friendship Village, children and veterans are nourished and are provided with free medical care. The children, who may stay there for several years, receive not only basic education, but also some forms of job training.
The Organic Gardening Project was launched in 2004 with the goal of creating islands of a harmonious approach to agriculture within areas of environmental and human devastation - increasing awareness of the consequences of war and, at the same time, demonstrating positive strategies for healing and living. At this moment, the farm is providing about 60% of the village’s consumption of vegetable. It is expected that it will cover all the needs and there will be products left for sale to raise funds for the village.
Volunteers will help with clearing the site, preparing soil, weeding, planting vegetables and fruit trees, cleaning a fish pond and redecorating the flowers in the garden. Additional activities may include planting trees, moving bricks for construction, collecting garbage and playing with the children or exchanging with local volunteers or farmers.
Discussions among the volunteers about Agent Orange, Vietnamese culture, and other social issues will take place during some of the evenings.
In the project from January 25 to February 6, 2010, the volunteers will focus on preparing Tet New Year Festival for the children in the Village.
