STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

The Accounting Writer will use his/her subject matter expertise in the field of auditing or accounting to help the ACFE Research Department develop, write, and update high-quality anti-fraud educational materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Writes, updates, edits, and formats content for ACFE educational course materials and publications.
<br>
2. Works with outside authors, as necessary, to develop informational content.
<br>
3. Assists in the creation and editing of content for interactive media products, such as online self-study courses and CD-ROMs.
<br>
4. Creates examination and review questions for self-study courses.
<br>
5. Reviews outside newsletters and other content for new standards, laws, regulations, or other information related to fraud for inclusion in products.
<br>
6. Provides information and guidance to production team, members, and staff regarding accounting issues.
<br>
7. Answers e-mails and phone calls from members, media, and the public regarding fraud, accounting topics, and ACFE publications.
<br>
8. Develops, maintains, and promotes effective internal and external relationships and works collaboratively with other ACFE employees and members.
<br>
9. Adheres to schedules and deadlines.
<br>
10. Performs other duties as requested or required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
<br>
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; advanced degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
<br>
2. Licensed CPA strongly preferred.
<br>
3. Experience as an auditor or accountant in government, private industry, or public accounting.
<br>
4. CFE designation strongly preferred at hiring or afterward.
<br>
5. Knowledge of current accounting and auditing rules and standards.
<br>
6. At least three years of editorial and/or writing experience preferred.
<br>
7. Experience in an educational or professional publishing environment preferred.
<br>
8. Thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience with publication process (electronic and print) from concept to finished product desired.
<br>
9. Thorough understanding of grammar, style, and current English usage.
<br>
10. Excellent research abilities.
<br>
11. Proven skills in organizing work, communicating effectively, attending to detail, taking direction, managing time effectively, and handling multiple tasks in a timely manner.
