We're currently seeking experienced User Experience Design professionals to join our newly formed team within a rapidly growing corporate Design group.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

VISUAL DESIGNERS
We’re seeking creative individuals that challenge the norm and who are passionate about great user experiences. Visual designers work on a range of product interfaces, from mobile phones, web interfaces to PC applications.

INTERACTION DESIGNERS
We’re looking for creative problem solvers that can tackle complex user interfaces across a range of screen sizes (mobile, portable and large display), develop wireframes and diagrams that communicate with clients, and create documentation to guide engineering.

WHAT ELSE?
• The belief that design is as much about emotion, behavior and story-telling as it is about utility and ease of use
• Real empathy and respect for your audience of end users
• The tendency to look in unexpected places for inspirations
• Curiosity and a quick sense of humor

Ideally, your humble beginnings are rooted in art school or graphic design or architecture. Then somewhere along the line you discovered fields like interaction design or human computer interaction and thought, "hey, that's for me"

Expert proficiency in the tools of your trade. We could list a bunch of software in which you should have expertise. But we don't care. Why? We'll take it for granted that as a seasoned visual designer, you're familiar with stuff like Photoshop and Illustrator and Visio or Omnigraffle. We're not focused on the methods, just the end result. And the end result should effectively communicate your designs in interesting ways to the developers building our software, so they can grasp your intentions and build them.

Self-motivation, good communication, comfort with both following direction *and* change. The only constant is that things change (and change often). You need to be comfortable with that.

Does this sound like you? If so, we'd like to hear from you.

WHO ARE WE?
We are a new, ninja-like team within a huge organization here in Austin. We're operating like a start up (so, lots of opportunity for growth) and represent like an agency (so, an enormous amount of project variety -- from mobile to PC, flash to android). More on that once we hear from you.

About Us
Schematic delivers strategic design and technology solutions that are beautifully simple yet impressively powerful. We believe that creating engaging digital experiences is the best way to help our clients forge meaningful and lasting relationships with their customers.

Our teams work across all the digital platforms people use every day, including the Web, PCs, televisions, and mobile devices. Lots of times, the work we do blurs lines between those screens and others, so we’re always open to exploring new technologies and techniques.

We partner with world-class organizations such as ABC, BMW, Dell, GE, Microsoft, NBC, Nokia, Scholastic, and Target. Recently, we worked with Microsoft and NBC to bring over 3,500 hours of Beijing Olympics coverage to US viewers online, forever changing the Olympics-viewing experience. That’s our sweet spot – redefining how people interact with companies (and each other) through technology.

Of course none of this would be possible without the talented designers, strategists and technologists who make up the Schematic family. True, we try not to take ourselves too seriously, but our people are nothing to joke about.

The editor, a contributing writer and photographer to several publications that include Skin&Ink Magazine for the last 5 years, has been--for the most part, a "staff of one with a budget of none," without the funding of a mainstream publisher.
Our first two issues, Volume One and Volume Two, are selling rapidly with internet orders from around the world and in select tattoo shops, bookstores, specialty shops, and head shops including Planet K, as the future looks bright.

This is a rare opportunity to make a contribution to the growth of a major project as an integral intern.
Duties may include editorial assistance with transcriptions, photo processing, layout and design; photography; writing; interviews; internet promotions; advertising solicitation; tattoo convention assistance; and location photo assistance (H&MU?) either at our office in North Central Austin, at your home or in the field.
Please check us out at texastattoomagzine.com and myspace.com/texastattoomag, and only respond if you have ALL of these qualifications:
1. At least one visible tattoo.

2. A working experience with InDesign and Photoshop.
3. Commit to regular blocks totaling at least 4 hours a week, AM or PM, and show up.

5. Want to have some fun doing it.
Skills and experience in art, music, writing, photography, design and advertising sales may eventually lead to bylines, barter for ads and/or bucks.
