Thanks for clicking on my ad! I love to sing but I've always been really shy about it. I've experienced a bit of self discovery over the past few months and feel its time to let these vocal chords out to play. I used to sing with a guitarist friend of mine but he left the country to teach. I have a traditional country voice, deep and twangy. If your interested I can email a sample. Oh ya I am a 28 year old male.

Whats up, my name is James, 23, and I just moved to Austin last week.

I'm looking for an established band that needs a vocalist / people wanting to start something new. I've been playing in steady bands since 2004, have toured with two bands, and recorded several times. I've got a great singing voice for melodic punk stuff (think Bad Religion, not to be confused with pop-punk). However, if I do say so myself, my hard vocals sound mean as hell, which many have said resemble the styles of Mean Pete of Remembering Never/Bishop, Andy of Figure Four/Comeback Kid, and Vincent of The Acacia Strain to name a few.

So that's how I sound and how much I've played and whatnot. But this is the real me. I'm an Austinite transplant from middle Tennessee. I resigned (amicably) from my former band to move here with my lady and some friends. I don't drink or do drugs, but I don't really care if you do. I love music, I love video games, I love movies. I'm a little bit nerdy, and I think that's where my anger mostly comes from: nerd rage. Here's some bands that I'm into(in no particular order):

Most Precious Blood, Ramallah, Every Time I Die, Terror, Guns Up, Bad Religion, The Acacia Strain, Minor Threat, Foo Fighters, Poison the Well, Black Flag, Evergreen Terrace, Queens of the Stone Age, The Warriors, Love is Red, Rob Zombie, etc etc etc.

You can hear how I sound and see what I look like at www.purevolume.com/jameswendt ... The four songs are from the two most recent projects I was in.

If you're interested, give me a call at 765 993 1686. I look forward to jamming with ya!

James

I'm looking for some guys to complete my band so I can stop using hired guns. Specifically a lead guitar player w/ harm. vocals a plus. We are looking for players in our relative age range (20's-30's) who are ready to be a part of a new project breaking off of an established project. This is our business.

The bass player and I are 27 and 33 and are established in (live and work out of) College Station and need guys wanting to be a part of a touring Tx country/americana band with full promo (radio and press), management (full financial strategic marketing plan has been drafted and approved) and financial investors. I'm cutting a 5 song EP on Feb 22nd that is being produced by Walt Wilkins.

The new drummer is 29 and lives in Austin, but is committed to the commute for rehearsal and gigging.

We will release a single to radio (w/ pro radio promo) in April and the physical should release in late April under Universal Music/Fontana Distribution. I personally have been playing a 150 gig/year schedule for the last couple years as a solo acoustic/quartet acoustic and when the CD releases I can convert at least a third of those into full band gigs immediately, I also have venue contacts asking for full band constantly that will be booked for the release as well. In all honesty, once the CD is out and a single being promoted to radio we will garner interest in more and more venues and possibly booking agents that will make us a 150 gig/year full band soon enough. Full band gigs to start the tour include April 23 @ the White Elephant Saloon in Fort Worth and April 24 @ Poor Davids Pub in Dallas.

Little history on me...

Started a band called Johns Guns here in 2006 and released a debut CD (Buy Sell Trade) in 2007 which saw minor success. Sales at shows and online were great, over 2000 sold....radio airplay was not often due to zero promo and insufficient production quality. That band has established great fan bases in this area, Houston, New Braunfels and especially D/FW where our shows would regularly draw 100+ for ticketed shows. I really feel there is a lot of potential here, I just need a solid core of players to work with so we can reestablish a tight sounding band.

I write with several other published writers including Walt and am completely immersed in the Tx country/red dirt/americana etc. music scene...we will have no shortage of work once we get going...we just gotta get going.

Ideally I’m looking for you to move here to College Station. Both the bassist and I have secure living situations, a huge, ridiculous, free rehearsal space and are deeply connected with all things venue/music in this area...makes sense right? My thinking is...if I advertise to the great pool of lifer musicians living in Austin, we may find those guys willing to pack up and move here. If you can afford to live in Austin now, you can definitely afford to live in College Station because the rent is at least half as much. The bassist and I both work day jobs a few days a week ( I just sub teach) in order to cover all expense but we both live very, very comfortably. If you are interested in being a part of this project I will do all the research you need to secure you a nice, clean, affordable living situation and a great part time job (i've worked just about everywhere here and still maintain contact with those places).

WE NEED SERIOUS PLAYERS WHO WILL NOT LET DEPENDANCIES INTERFERE WITH THEIR PRIORITIES...IE: WE'LL HAVE A GOOD OLD TIME IF WE GET OUR BUSINESS DONE FIRST AND FOREMOST.

I PLAN ON SPLITTING ALL THE GIG MONEY EQUALLY AFTER EACH SHOW AND TAKING THE PAYCUT IN ORDER TO GET MY MUSICIANS AT LEAST $100/GIG OR MORE IF WE MAKE MORE. I AM INVESTED.

Doing the math, that’s still only about $300/week but if you work the days we don't gig (ex: I sub 3 days...get $60/day and have an extra $180/wk)....that equals about $500/wk...not bad at all to live in a town as inexpensive as this.

I'll post my website and my former band's website at the bottom so you can check out the sound. The sound has evolved more towards the first website and you can see what kind of venues I've established myself with.

"Success equals Inspiration plus Craft minus Fear and Doubt, multiplied by Time and Effort, coupled with Purpose and Persistence."
- Ray Wylie Hubbard

HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU, WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO A REALLY FUN RIDE!

Nick Verzosa (Nick Verzosa and the Noble Union)
817-689-8313
nickverzosa@gmail.com
www.myspace.com/nickverzosa
www.myspace.com/johnsgunsbangbang

Anyone want a free mandolin player?
I'm a fairly quick study and am into folk, blues, bluegrass, jazz, and anything you might find on a Putamayo album. Any singer-songwriters or instrumental groups (particularly acoustic)?
Here's the deal. I'm just looking to have fun, collaborate and contribute to someone else's craft. As previously stated I'm not even looking to get paid. What? That's right. If there are any gigs, split it the way you wish with or without me.
What's the catch? Well, I'm not a 'hired gun'. I'm not really looking to travel too much or 'make it'. Not looking to make a fortune, just music. I'm an 8-5er.
I can send a clip or something compelling is this sounds too shady.
Peace out homies...

Hello all.
My name is Alec, and I'm trying to get a project together with my friend Nathan (sax player). We are looking for a bass player, preferably with some guitar knowledge, as I play bass and we would like to do some stuff with that. However, you would be primarily playing bass, and if you don't play any guitar at all, that's still ok.
We're playing about half originals and half covers, with several unfinished original songs still in the making. Eventually we'd like to play all or mostly originals.
We've been playing together for about 3 months and have a good hour and a half worth of material worked up. Looking to do some shows around town and play pretty seriously, practicing about 1-3 times a week.
We both live in the Lakeway area, and I have a very nice setup with a drum kit and bass amp and PA at my house, and we would probably practice here because of that, but if you can't for some reason we can also go to you.

My influences include Dave Matthews, Gomez, and Bob Schneider.

Here are some links to some songs I wrote, this is about what kind of style we are looking for:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kbHftRTIgQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txn3V5BdENg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIsfTzfA50Q

We are starting a heavy rock band and need a drummer.

Our Influences: Secret and Whisper, Saosin, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Circa Survive, Underoath, Unearthed, etc..

Our Sound: We are going for a very heavy, yet very marketable sound. As far as guitars, we are looking for some amazing/up-beat melodic riffs (similar to Saosin or Secret and Whisper). We would like to layer in the occasional breakdown and the occasional clean/ambient (Circa Survive-style) bridge. We have an amazing female vocalist (think vocals along the lines of Eyes Set to Kill) that we’d love contrast with some screaming.

About us: We are a couple of laidback musicians that are just looking to write some fucking heavy and epic music. We treat our band like a business, and are in it for the long run this time. We have professional tour-ready equipment. Several essential industry contacts (label reps, booking agents, managers, publishers, promoters, etc), and free recording hook-ups.

We are looking for a drummer (under 30) that has a professional kit, can rock the shit out of some double kick, extremely versatile (underoath/saosin style drumming). Someone with a cool attitude, serious about the music they make, reliable transportation and a flexible schedule.

Send us an email telling us a bit about yourself if you’re interested.

We want to make music our career.. We take this very seriously, and you should too.

We look forward to hearing from you!

I've posted countless Craigslist ads over the years, and I've met up with some people, but nothing really ever seems to work out in the long-run. Maybe I need to get out more, and "network", but I've never really been very good at making "connections". So, here I am again, Craigslist...

ME: I'm a female singer, in my early thirties, with a distinctive, jazzy-ish, soprano voice...in a similar vein to Beth Gibbons and Liz Frazer. I don't have much experience as a singer because, well, something has always stopped me from getting out there - debilitating perfectionism, and a fear of failure probably. Does this make me yet another Craigslist fake and wannabe? Possibly. Or maybe I'm a rare, undiscovered gem. It's up to you to take the chance to find out.

YOU: A guitarist or keyboard player, who knows your way around a computer. I'd prefer it if you were in your late twenties *at least*, and if you were fairly experienced, and well-connected. I have talent, but it's raw, and I need somebody who knows what they're doing to help shape it.

MY VISION: I've got absolutely no idea what to call the kind of music I want to do. I hate labels, and I especially hate the one "folktronic", but that is the best description I can think of (with more emphasis on the "folk" than the "tronic" - and with a little bit of jazz thrown into the mix). Whatever the fuck it's called, this music would be dark, spare, sexy and very vocal-centric. For a better idea of what I want, check out "Pumajaw" and "Mi and Lau". I'm happy to do experimental stuff, but never at the expense of melody.

I'm sorry if this sounds inflexible, but I'm not interested in joining an already established project. I've done this before, and even though people always say they're up for collaborating, it never seems to turn out this way. I always end up having to sing stuff I don't enjoy singing. I want this to be *OUR* baby, something we created together, from scratch. You would come up with the main body of the song, and then I would add the vocal melody and lyrics.

THE GOAL: Rehearsing at least once a week with a view to playing gigs, and recording.

Are you out there? Are you interested? I hope so.

my cousin and i have recently decided to start a band together; i play guitar, he plays drums. our style is a sort of garage/indie rock with a touch of blues and psychedelic leads. we decided that we'd like to have a female singer to complete the sound, someone with a unique voice that knows how to rock and can put on a good stage performance. we're not looking for a stripper or exotic dancer, or even beyonce-esque singers. we're looking or someone more like karen o. we have many connections, so when the time comes, booking gigs wont be a problem. anyway, we have a list of criteria that we would like our singer to meet, so if you're interested please contact us!

* must be attractive (somewhat tall (5' 6" to 5' 9"), thin, fashionable (for a rock band))
* confident (we don't want to play a show only to find out you have stagefright. please be sure of your ability to perform)
* available at least twice a week for practice
* at least 21 years of age!!!

This is Important!!! we are NOT an established band, it will be a growing process (probably wont play any shows for a month or two). so only reply if you are willing to put forth time and effort into this. also send a pic of yourself with response, along with some info about yourself.

I've been taking a break since October... and I think I've just about rested enough. Nah... don't worry about me losing my ability... I've been keeping it going ;)

I'm a professional drummer looking for a new group for permanent placement. I play rock. No county, no folk, no blues, or anything like that. I don't play anything heavy metal, maybe some sort of modern sounding punk, but most other genres of rock music are cool. I like glam style rock similar to my last band, some heavier stuff like Avenged Sevenfold, maybe a little bit of other 80s rock influence, some modern easy alternative stuff, etc. You can check out my profile for my most recent recordings from an EP from my last band to get a listen, but my range of style is broader.

myspace.com/garyhansen

My kit mainly consists of a Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute kit and Zildjian A Custom cymbals. Throw in a couple cowbells, a tambourine, a nice little rack, and a dose of awesome, and you have me. :)

I have toured around Texas mainly, and don't really plan on sticking to going anywhere far. Our current sax player is pursuing new ventures and we need to replace that role (either with Sax, Keys or rhythm guitar) asap, as this is a big/important part of our instrumentation in our songs. We have been around since January of 2008 and have played at many places that have asked us to come back such as; Dale’s Essenahus, Texas Bar And Grill, The Vineyard, Carousel Lounge, just to name a few. We are having to turn down gigs because we are an incomplete band. We are an all ORIGINAL MUSIC band with a positive message in our music. Howdy Y'all,

It's a new dynamic for me and the full band. I've gotten pretty fed up with playing full band shows with different players all the time who don't have the time to give the project in order for it to look and sound like the pro level production I'm seeking. I've spent the last few months doing that just because I wanted to get out and play as much as possible. Nothing against doing that, for those who do, it's just not what I want. I can continue playing 20-25 dates a month solo or duo acoustic until the band sounds like I want it to.

We have a solid pair of singer songwriters, a great guitarist, years of top level experience, a buzz, a good album getting good reviews, two agents from two agencies working to keep us busy, gigs on the books and a good reputation.

We need a solid bass player who is cool with spending the time it's gonna take the first several weeks to get the sound and show right. After that, playing 8-12 times a month or more will mean we won't need too much rehearsal, but right now it's a deal breaker. vocals a plus, but not a necessity. Pro gear, dependable personality and a desire to work hard and play often are necessities.

Ask around, I'm legit. You be too.

Thanks,
Mark Allan Atwood

Hey, I am a 26 year old guitarist from Chicago. I've been playing for over 10 years, and still can't get enough. I am into a variety of music, but what I love to play more than anything is punk/melodic hardcore style. Bands that I like in that genre are 88 fingers louie, guttermouth, bad religion, zeke, pennywise, old rise against, old afi, etc etc. Looking to start up an original band out there when I arrive, or maybe even get it going and by the time I get there we can already have some songs written. I can record here at home to send to you. I'd join another band looking for a guitarist, or ready to start a new one. Not into emo, pop punk, or lame indie rock. I am a huge metal fan as well, but not looking to get into anything too heavy with this band. I have good song writing ability, and strive for unique and original riffs and songs. I also sing pretty well, and can harmonize. If this sounds like you, please let me know. I'll be moving to Austin in July, still a few months away but like I said we can even get this started right now and be ahead of the game when I get there.

My name is Grant Gallo and I am 18 years old. I am a very good Deathcore vocalist, my lows sound sort of like Scott Lewis from Carnifex, my highs sound alot like Mitch Lucker from Suicide Silence, and I'm not really sure who my mids sound like. I am moving back home to Austin (permanently) in June 2010 and I want a serious band to play with. I am also a very solid guitarist, I play both 6 and 7 string guitars and I would like to get an 8 string at some point :) I am a VERY serious musician and I want to do this for a living, I would like a band that shares the same goal. I am ready to put in all the time necessary to make everything sound great, I am also very energetic onstage and have experience playing live. Also I am not an asshole and have no ego issues at all, that seems relevant haha. I have about a whole Demo/EP worth of lyrics already written and I have 5-6 guitar songs written as well. So email me and I will give you my number so we can start working toward playing shows, getting signed, and touring.

Hello folks out there in CL land, I've got a request of you!

I need a Lead / Rhythm guitar player who's adept in a wide-range of musical styles (not metal, no need for extreme shredding although dexterity is important), also be comfortable improvising within classical and modern musical structures. Be flashy, wave your guitar around, windmill if you want. I want someone with showmanship as much as skill. Is this you? Email me. Got samples of your playing? Even better, email those too or send me a link.

I need a bassist who can drop it all. Can you slap like Claypool? Good. Got the mad skills of Wooten? Perfect. Jam out as hard as Pastorius? Great. Can you lay down the thick funk and hold the pocket when your amazing ability to solo on the bass isn't needed? Email me already!

Drumming is the picky place! Can you record in studio to a click track and not suck? Are you aware of tempo when not under the influence of a metronome? Are you diverse, also comfortable playing in pocket, and on fire like Bonham? Shout over an email.

I do not want to put together a genre-specific kind of band. The most important thing I want to stress is creative freedom, open environment, exploratory jam-space, well-arranged song structures, and most importantly the people I'm playing with feeling comfortable trying new things through expression, experimentation, and lots of practice. I am not looking to be a "front man" or "band leader" and I don't want you looking to be that either. 4 equals on a stage sharing a conversation through their music, ya dig?

So lets do this, send me a shout and get this going on. I can host in-house practice sessions - and also conveniently have a stage near the pool area where I live that is very handy for testing out the live side of playing.

Email me!
Hi, I'm a female singer/songwriter and am 25. I am looking to start or join a band with other Christian musicians. I don't want to necessarily play Christian music, but I want it to be positive, secular music that is inspired by God. I don't have much experience. Music has been on my heart recently and I want to play and get heard. If there are others out there that feel the same way, email back!
Here is a link to a band that I helped with some harmonizing in the chorus. There are two songs "Be Free" and "Find Me" www.myspace.com/sophomoric

I probably am giving the game away here but I've played the Georgetown Market. As a rule I'm pretty much not happy with playing for free either but there are exceptions. This was a non-profit event as far as the organizers are concerned. Not a bar on 6th St. Second, partly due to being fed up with dealing with the attitude of too big a portion of the "musicians" in this town, I've been focusing on my solo act until and when I can command better pay for the players I want. This seemed like a decent opportunity and whenever I play outside of Austin I usually get treated well. Georgetown is a pretty cool little town.

To the point, I spent two hours on a glorious day being heard by several hundred people wandering around. A few even sat down on the lawn and had a proper listen. I played my own songs with some obscure covers from other songwriters. I got no end of compliments from the general public and many of the vendors. I was treated with respect and great courtesy by the organizers. Yeah, I only played for tips and CD sales but I earned a total of $110. That's right, $110 for a gig that so many couldn't be bothered with.

So here is a choice that is presented to us quite often in the Austin area, dismiss any gig which does not pay a minimum fee regardless of what it is and spend the time you could have been out there performing bitching on craigslist. This course will guarantee you make nothing, no money, no new friends, no new fans. You lose, as in loser. The second option is to look at an offer and if the situation warrants, take a chance. You may be disappointed or you may have a great time and make money. In either event you at least attempted something positive for yourself and so you win. When you roll the dice it doesn't always come up craps.

Where do I start. First lets begin with stating that we are seeking individuals who are serious about worship or interested in learning at least. Someone who is not GIG driven, meaning your main focus is not just on trying to play. We are seeking people who will be committed to making QUALITY music, not just throwing anything up to God. The bible says for us to be skillful and were looking for people willing to work towards that. Truth be told we are in the beginning stages of our development and will not define our style or perimeters to just CCM, Gospel, worship, praise, rhythm and praise, jazz, or rock... The songs we are singing now encompass several aspects of the genres, all pleasing God. For the short time we have been together God has blessed us with great opportunities and we are planning for several upcoming events. Our current Drummer and lead guitarist are multitasking and playing for Several bands and we are just seeking like minded individuals who have a desire to play for one to two bands without over taxing themselves, so that we can produce this quality music. Now that you have read this book of just an introduction of what we are looking for, we would be delighted to meet your aquintance and see where God leads us.

Serious Inquiries only, No wastless endless pointless emails. In initial email please state name, area you reside in, instrument you play, styles of music you have played (jazz, gospel, rock, etc), availability and we will set up a time to meet you.
In response to your email I will reply with detailed information about the band and music samples. Also include any questions you may have for us. Majority of our public information is still in development, this is the reason I have not posted a web adress or the bands name.

(Artist our sounds have been influenced by: David Crowder Band, Israel Houghthon, Jeremy Camp, Tye Tribbett, Deitrick Haddon, Hillsong -yea all different styles --- to name a few off the top of my head)

Perhaps, instead of using your time to disrupt others that are donating their time, you could assist your community! Wouldn't that be time better spent than concerning yourselves with others are doing? We happen to be proud that we are able to work with musicians of all ages, genres, and finnancial status. From age 13 ~ newly formed groups ~~ to musicians in their senior years ~~ these talented people just want to entertain. Not every musican can perform on 6th street or in local clubs. Some don't play hip tunes and some are to young to play at these venues. You would stop these musicians from an opportunity? Email me directly - we would be happy for you to visit one of these "FAMILY" events.

I’m sure the “cause” is a good one however, why is it that everyone feels the need to have “live music” yet never figure in the cost of those that are providing it? Musicians are NOT looking for “profit”, they’re just looking at paying the bills so we can keep entertaining y’all...

How about using this closing statement instead of the one you have:

"Great opportunity for a non-profit to help promote themselves, a fun, music-filled event and live musicians everywhere”? SHARE THE PROCEEDS WITH THOSE WHO HELP YOU MAKE IT WORK!!!

"Non-profit organization trying to keep historic downtown Georgetown rockin during current economy. These are NO PAY Gigs as we are not for profit. Most gigs require you bring your own equipment - we provide electric & canopies. Street Dances we provide audio equipment & lights. Your information will be added to all custom promotional materials, website, and advertisements. You are encouraged to sell CD's, t-shirts, and accept tips. Day gig and night gigs- available. Seeking solo's, duo's and bands. Must be family oriented. Some gigs are in conjunction with on-going events. Provide link to sample tunes! Email for complete information and website. Great gigs for new artists or musicians who are interested in helping community."
SONGWRITERS
DOES YOUR RECORDING NEED PROFESSIONAL DRUMS?

If you are a singer/songwriter and need professional quality drums and percussion for your recording, I can help. All I need is a copy of your music, which you can send via email (as an MP3) or snail mail. Preferably, the music you send would include a click track as well as suggestions for particular drum parts and sounds. From there I will take your music to our Protools equipped studio, record the drums, and send the tracks back for your approval. I am a professional studio and touring drummer specializing in many genres. I am endorsed by Sabian Cymbals and Los Cabos drumsticks. My work can be heard on television, radio and movies. My equipment includes both vintage and new drums, a variety of snare drums, a variety of bass drums and many different types of cymbals and percussion.
