One grad student at UT studying Education and Anthropology, and a first year chemistry teacher! The grad student works with two immigrant labor rights organizations (www.workersdefense.org and www.ciw-online.org), and the chemistry teacher spends 80% of her time figuring out how to do that (they say the first year teaching is the hardest). We often have long conversations about the education system and inequality, and other related political topics, but also like to kick it, laugh, hang out, have fun, and are just as likely to go dancing, cook/eat/watch movies/drink tea and wine together and talk about sex and love and dream up crazy travel plans and fun things to do with the house that we probably don't have time or money for but are just as fun to talk about -- just to give you a picture of who we are. We both go back and forth from being extroverts to spending quiet time alone or with just one or two people.

We are both females in our mid-20's who are *super chill*, down to earth, friendly, respectful, considerate, responsible, hard-working, and we appreciate solid, clear, low-drama communication, and folks who aren't into having things their way all the time. We recognize that living in a house together means you have to let go of control of some stuff, always be willing to compromise, and talk things out regularly, especially when everyone is super busy and we rarely see each other at home at the same time. We make decisions and divide up work around the house (including responsibility for bills and cleaning) collectively, and try to run the space as democratically/collectively as possible. And, we like to have fun. We rarely have parties, but one roommate likes to have friends over for meals, or just to hang occasionally, and we both have house guests here and there (maybe a long weekend once a month or so) -- so any new roomie needs to be cool with this. We have 1 small, friendly, super chill and quiet (housetrained) dog, so it is important that we live with someone who would be conscientious of this, making sure she's appreciated and played with now and then! In case it's not obvious, our ideal living situation that we strive for is a collective community - although one roomie is rarely home. We occasionally cook dinner together when we have time, want to have regular house "meetings" to just keep up with running the house in a happy/smooth manner, are open to having a chore list that is organized fairly, and again - we recognize that constant communication and a willingness to take on shared responsibility for running the house is key to keeping things happy. Generally, one roomie spends a lot of time at her boyfriend's houses, and the other is home a lot cooking, cleaning, and studying all day - so a peaceful, clean, quiet space is important to us. We both love to dance and cook/eat together, so we do that whenever we have free time (which is unfortunately rare, but we're trying to make more time for that!) Ideally, our home is our chill retreat from the craziness of school/work...we treat it like our sanctuary, and for the grad student, home is both a workspace and a welcome respite from all the stress of classes.

It is a completely separate house from ours and has a futon (not pictured), fridge, coffee pot, toaster, free WiFi, AC/Heat, and bathroom. You'd be welcome to hang out in our backyard as well. We would ideally like to rent to two people (who would share the futon, obviously). You could have three folks in there, and we can offer an air mattress, but it would be a little tight on room and the rent would go up to $150/night. If you're hardy, though, lets talk about it. We are literally five blocks from 6th street, have two grocery stores in walking distance (one is Whole Foods), and there are a lot of restaurants right in our neighborhood. This is a really excellent location for SXSW events. It's not luxurious, but it will get the job done, for sure!

This room has direct access to the back deck, and a beaded entryway. However, it is considered an 'open room' and affords minimal privacy; that's why it's the best rate. We'll put a room divider up - and take a look at the pics, it's fantastic. Good for one or two people. We provide an air mattress and blankets - and pillows galore. It's booked from 3/12-3/15, BUT STILL OPEN FOR THESE NIGHTS: 3/16-3/21. That means if you don't have a spot for the music festival, we have the place for you!!

The Treehouse: $100/night - this is a second story room with 3 massive windows facing the large greenbelt behind our house. It has a futon (sleeps two comfortably), a small closet, a desk, and a shelving unit. It also has a bookshelf full of reading material...but I doubt you'll want to use that much. This room offers complete privacy, and is ideal for a couple. We provide blankets and pillows. It's booked 3/15-3/21, and OPEN FOR THESE NIGHTS: 3/12-3/14. It is a PERFECT SPOT for catching Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar screenings early in SXSW.

The Retreat: $110/night - this is a first floor room located at the front of the house. It's a serene little escape, with beautiful touches all over the room. It has a large full size bed (sleeps two VERY comfortably), clothing storage, and a TV. It's considered "semi-private" with a beaded entrance and no other entry; however, sounds carry through the beads. However, it's also the largest bedroom in the house and has the best bed, bar none. We live in a great neigborhood, Clarksville, which is right next to Downtown in between Lamar , Mopac and 6th. It a great place to be during SXSW. Close to everything, but still a safe and quiet negborhood.

Our house has big living room with fire place, full dining room, a library, a guest room (for you), two bathrooms, and plenty of parking. All hardwood floors, central air and heat, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and disposal. We also have a large front yard, huge front porch, fenced back yard with oak tree. A huge kitchen any chef would envy with 8 burner stove & 2 ovens, a chopping block and granite island with granite counter tops. We are within walking distance to Fresh Plus (food store), Caffe Medici (coffee), and lots of great places to eat. Within walking/biking distance of Whole Foods, Zilker Park, Downtown, 6th st, Lamar st, and Auditorium Shores. Next to UT shuttle and a Cap Metro stop.

The Room is Medium sized with lots of windows, and a queen sized futon. Its not fancy, but let be honest your not going to be in it that much. There is a sweet family who lives in the house upstairs while my neighbor and I each rent out a unit downstairs. We are in the 78704 area code. We are a 5 min. bike ride to Barton Springs, a 2 min walk to a major bus stop and 10 minute drive to downtown. You can most definitely bike downtown in less than 20 minutes. And it's an awesome route.

Each unit has it's own locked entrance, shower and kitchen. There is also a washer / dryer available if ya need it but we like to keep it dirty here in the ATX. They're adorable, small units and we love living here.

It's in Sunrise Bluffs on William Cannon and I-35 off of Nelms Dr. While the apartment complex does not have great reviews, I never had any problems. I lived there for 2.5 years, all the repairs have been done in the same day or the next day the latest. It's the quietest apartment in the entire complex!!!! It always has and it will always be. You will always have parking space right up front of the stairs.

Studio is available for SXSW anytime between March 12-21st. It's not fancy, but it will save you some cash and keep you near all the best parties!
