The fire started in a house on Shively Lane near Highway 183 shortly after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters say three people were in the house when the fire started. It woke them up, and they were able to get outside and call 911. Firefighters with the Travis County Fire Department found fire and smoke filling up the back of the house. It spread up into the attic and through the roof. There are no water hydrants in the area. Firefighters had to call for extra resources from the Austin Fire Department, Manchaca Fire and Rescue and Travis County Fire Control. In all, about eight trucks arrived and nearly two dozen firefighters fought the blaze. The crews put out the fire quickly and kept it contained to the back of the house, but it caused substantial damage to a back bedroom, bathroom, water heater closet and the roof. The American Red Cross is offering the residents assistance. Fire marshals are searching through the damage to find out how the fire started. People are flagging my ad. The whole house can be repaired but these are my friends and my 30yr old step son is the boyfriend of the mother that owns the house. They did not have house insurance. What the fire did not damage the smoke and water did. Also, if you reseach (Salvage and Overhul) with the fire dept. they have to pull all the sheetrock down throughout the home to make sure none of the fire crawled. Once the fire gets into an attic it can and will go anywhere it wants too. If you have an attic you know that it is an open space between your ceiling and roof. The garage was not compromised. The reason they need a vehicle is the engine in the jeep threw a rod and they cannot afford to replace the engine. They are living with her son and his family until the house can repaired. There is one person that continues to flag this saying it is a scam. How can it be a scam if it was on the news. When you see the video, my step son is the tall skinny one wearing the hat. The pregnant girl is the short one that walks around. Please do not flag this. I am going to give you the phone number of the mom that needs help. Her name is Canda King and her phone number is 512-913-9108 If anyone can help her son and his wife with food due to the fact they are supporting 3 extra people - please help them. The boyfriend of the pregnant girl was arrested that night because he was not supposed to be there. He is on his way to prison, from what I have heard but I do not know how true that is.
