We are looking for men and women softball players to join our coed slow pitch softball team this year. The core of our team has been playing for several years, so we would like to keep the team going. Players are generally in their 20s and 30s, but it's more important that you're a good person to be around and serious about showing up for the games. Previous playing experience is a plus but not required.

While we are generally very flexible about positions, our preference would be to find:
* Women who can play outfield, 2B and/or catcher. (In this league, three women are in the field at all times.)
* Men who can play either 3B/SS and/or Outfield.

Our team has a regular pitcher; however, if you can also pitch on occasion that would be a huge plus since everyone usually can't make every game.

We are in the BWCS co-ed softball league (http://www.bostonwestcoedsoftball.com/). You will need your own transportation because the league uses fields in the areas of Newton, Charlestown, Waltham, West Roxbury, Watertown, Brighton, Hyde Park, Cambridge and Medford that are often not convenient to public transportation.

There are 12 games plus playoffs. The cost will be around $90 per person and includes 12 games, playoffs, umpire fees and T-shirt. The season runs from late April into mid-August, if we make the playoffs.

This is a weekday league (Monday-Friday), but there is almost always one Sunday game. Game are usually scheduled for 6, 7:30 or 9 p.m.

If you are interested in playing, please respond with what positions you play and if you have any playing experience. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

We already have two teams for the sunday afternoon league and two teams for the monday night league. If you would be interested in signing your team up for one of these leagues, please email us at leagues@dracutindoor.com or give our business line a call at 978 606 5439. Nor do I believe that expensive clothes equals class. I think both of those things come from within. Blue Collar, white collar..it doesn't matter. Presentation is pride and self-respect. You don't need to live on Park Avenue to have it. But if you don't, you'll be judged for it accordingly. Especially in a place like Manhattan.Truth be told, this is a big reason why so many people - men and women - prefer to date city dwellers versus those who live in the suburbs. There's a mentality and a form of presentation that we identify with and appreciate more. And, no, it's not about being "dumb." It's about coming across unpolished. http://moxieblog.typepad.com/moxieblog/2010/03/is-she-slumming.html

~Private Blog - How Men Evaluate Women's Dating Profiles
Even though I found his response slightly annoying, I found his response pretty thought provoking and accurate. Women do tend to give guys a little more leeway than they do for us. If the picture doesn't work, they don't even make it through the whole profile. I think the priorities for men go: picture, age, body type, profile. For women it goes picture, profile, body type, age. http://moxieblog.typepad.com/atwysprivate/2010/03/private-blog-enlighten-me.html

~Private Blog - Where To Go To Meet Mr/Ms Right
My feeling is this....if you're someone who only seems to meet people online, even though you do go out and socialize a fair amount, then there's something about your demeanor that screams unapproachable. Hello Mtn Bikers!

I am looking for a mtn biking partner. Novice is good, but Mid-level skills is better. Enthusiasm for biking trails is a must as I typically bike the morning early weekend hours (if weather permits). It is always more fun when you can share the ride with others. I am not looking for any intimate encounter what-so-ever, (so please refrain from forwarding your naked pictures taken with your cameras in your "white walled" bathrooms). BTW, I was just being funny...a sense of humor is always welcome. :)

My preference is Single Males (don't need a chick coming after me because of a minor misunderstanding). The Boston-area 12-team 4x4 AL-only auction keeper rotisserie league I'm in is looking for new owners for the teams of a couple of owners who aren't returning this year.

If you're a Red Sox fan, this a fun way to become more familiar with the rest of the American League's teams, especially the non-AL East teams that the Sox don't face as much during the regular season. Some previous fantasy sports experience would help, but prior rotisserie or auction experience is not required -- most of our owners had none before joining and a rookie won the championship last year.

The league has been around for over a decade and my understanding is that it's a pretty standard old-school roto league format -- 23-player active rosters (14 hitters, 9 pitchers), $260 team auction budget, and weekly transactions. There are no bench slots but there are unlimited DL/demoted-to-minors slots. Each team is also allowed to have a 3-man minor leaguer squad (we hold an online/pre-rank two-round minor league draft the week after each year's live in-person auction). The categories are batting average, home runs, RBI's, stolen bases, ERA, WHIP, wins, and saves.

Teams can keep a player at the same initial salary for his first two seasons -- after that you can either A) keep him at the same salary for a third season and then lose him, or B) extend him to a higher salary that adds $5 for each extra year you want to keep him. Teams can keep up to nine keeper-eligible players each season. It would be up to you to decide which 2009 roster players you want to keep on the team you take over this spring.

Transactions are pretty restricted -- before the All-Star break, you can pretty much only replace a guy if he goes on the DL, gets demoted, released, etc. by his real AL team or by claiming an active roster AL player another roto team has waived. After the break, every available free agent is subject to weekly FAAB bidding (each team gets a $100 budget for the season) and it is a lot easier to get a guy off your roster.

The entry fee is $40. There are also additional per-transaction fees that typically end up totaling somewhere between $20-40 for most owners each season, so we also require to pre-pay for your first $20 of transactions on auction day.

The live auction will take place on Saturday, April 17 at an owner's home in Wayland, MA. It will begin at 3PM and will likely run for about eight hours, including a short take-out dinner break. You must be available beginning at 3PM on Saturday, April 17, we can't change the auction date.

Please email mrblroto@gmail.com if you're interested in more details, thanks.

So with all the rain, the Charles River looks ot be about 5-6 higher than normal on the stretch of water I usually canoe. This has turned almost unnoticeable current into quick water. There is only an elevation drop of a couple feet over the 6 mile stretch so there are no rapids, just a quick current and lots more places to explore that can't be canoed without the extra water(marshes, forest land, back yards). Usually when the water's at normal levels, I can do a loop and cut through cutler park back to the launch because of the lack of current. The higer levels make me slightly doubtful of being able to fight a current back to the launch so the ability to stage a second vehicle at millenium park behind home depot would be ineal, or if you'd like, further downthe charles as the 6 mile loop I usually do can be done in probably less than an hour, so it'd be nice to finally explore more down the charles. I've got an old towne discovery river canoe, paddles, and life vests. You don't even have to paddle as I go about the same speed with a front paddler as without. I just need someone to weigh down the front of the canoe and has a vehicle for transport. I have foam pads and can easily portage the canoe on a car rooftop without a rack if need be. I'm available during the day during the week. Weekends I will most likely be elsewhere.
