<![CDATA[The Mass General Hospital Psychiatric Neuroimaging Program is looking for volunteers with panic disorder to participate in a research study of breathing. The purpose of the research is to study brain activity in panic disorder patients compared to healthy people during shortness of breath. During the study, you will experience periods of shortness of breath that will cause moderate discomfort. These periods will only last a few minutes. <br> <br> You may be eligible to participate if you: have experienced panic attacks, are a non-smoker, between 18 and 64 years of age, not pregnant, and do not suffer from any medical, neurological or psychiatric disorders (besides panic disorder). The study will include a psychological screening, a few questionnaires, tests of your breathing, two blood samples, and an fMRI brain scan. Total time commitment is approximately 15 hours, spread out over 6 visits. Participants will be paid up to $380 for their time.
