<![CDATA[to all you SAHM's offering childcare in your home... just a little advice as I know times are tight and all of us SAHM's need some extra spending money, but you really need to have a license to do this. I'm a SAHM of 2 small children and I was not aware of this at the time and offered to watch a toddler in my home... well she ended up tripping and falling at my home and I thought she was fine as she showed no signs of distress. Well I informed the childs mother at pick up that she did trip today but seemed fine, thought nothing of it. Well she never came back, didn't even receive a call as to why... few days later DSS shows up at my home telling me the child was seriously injured and accused me of neglect. I was in absolute shock as well as being greatly upset. Luckily I didn't get fined for not having a license but they made it very well known I should have one to do this... but it was a nightmare... my word against theirs, I didn't win.... so never again and now I have to live with this falsely on my record!! So just a friendly heads up at all the SAHM's out there, if you want to watch another child, do it in their home, then it's considered 'babysitting' and you do NOT need a license (as how DSS and EEC explained to me), god forbid anything happens, you'd be covered.
