<![CDATA[Growing up in the 60's and 70's everything seemed so black and white. You went to school. Did your homework, played with your friends, loved summer vacation and everything about Christmas. You tried not to cheat, or lie, or steal, and if you did hoped you didn't get caught but felt guilty. When you did get caught your stomach felt uneasy.But everything had a set order: you grew up, then became a teenager, then went to college, then got a job and got married, got a house and had kids. Grew old, retired, became a grandparent and then died. Does it seem to anyone that lines are now being blurred and boundaries are merging. Teenagers grow up so fast, are they even teens anymore? Not everyone goes to college, and those that do aren't guaranteed of a good job and life. People don't get married as young, or are marrying same sex, or different types of ceremonies. People are getting older but certainly not acting "their age." Is everything changing or is it me and the way I look at it? I am married with kids and jobs. I don't go to Church anymore. <![CDATA[Alright so I'm a little confused on this whole "life" thing. I have a great job working for the state and I know that I'm pretty much one of the luckiest bastards in the world as far as employment goes, I have a nice apartment, two dogs, a great landlord who adores me, my own car...suffice it to say I've got my shit straight. But I have no real desire to stay in the northeast anymore. I've been here 25 years and, as far as I'm concerned, I'm done. Now here's my real problem. A year ago I had a reason to stay here. I had a woman in my life whom I would have done anything for. I sacrificed opportunities to advance in both my personal and professional lives just to be with her. However, she passed away barely over a year ago and my life has been empty ever since. I have my friends and I have my dogs but, within the next 9-12 months, I'm gone. Now, here's where all you CL readers come in. I would love for someone to give me a reason to stick to my grassroots and stay up here in the Northeast. Someone to take care of and protect until the day I die. I'm going to be realistic, the odds of me finding that person on craigslist of all places are slim to none, I know this. However, I've tried all the conventional methods and they all come up dry. I don't drink a whole lot so bars are out. I'm too old to go to college parties and the women I would meet there would be A)too young and B)far too interested in games I no longer have time for. So I guess I'll go into what I'm looking for in a woman a little more. As of now, I don't really care what someone looks like. I'm looking for friends as much as I am a relationship. If you think you're beautiful but misunderstood, drop a line. If people look at you and judge you simply because of your physical appearance, fuck 'em, drop me a line and say hi. I tend to be outrageous and spontaneous to a fault. If I felt it would be a good time to hop in the car and drive to Pennsylvania, I will. (True story, that was January) I'm a huge animal person, as well as a humanitarian. I drove to Michigan to rescue a dog that was no longer fit to be bred and so was going to be euthanized, less than two months ago. As far as the humanitarian aspect of things goes, I work with individuals with cognitive impairments. If you don't know what that means, then ask. I just don't want to use layman's terms on here because they tend to be a little nastier. PS: I take pride in what I do and love my job. As far as I go? I'm 6' tall. I'm a ginger and I'm pretty solid. I don't mean to sound conceited but you get pretty strong lifting people all night long. And regarding what I'm into, I'm an athlete and always was. I play sports for fun and I exercise as I can. I walk my dogs at least a couple miles just about daily and it's my decompression time. I like driving with no place to go with my music at deafening volumes. I like photography and poetry, I'll actually be doing another reading at the Borders in Shrewsbury,this Friday, if anyone wants in. I'm a country boy born and bred so I love to be outside, hiking, camping, horseback riding or doing just about whatever. Let me add briefly that I'm strictly a trail rider. Aka not a good one. Haha. I used to clean stalls for a living and also as a form of entertainment, it's just relaxing to me. If I decide to stay in then I can have just as good a time doing that as I can going out. Sometimes the best way to unwind from a long week is to just sit in front of the TV with some good food, some good company and a good beer(or whatever your preference may be). Now, I won't pretend that I'd date anybody under the sun, we all have our "type" as far as these things go and I'd have to feel some kind of physical attraction but that doesn't mean that I won't befriend anybody and/or everybody. I'm like that. I've been told I could make friends with a telephone pole if it would speak back to me. Oh, one last thing before I sign off for the day. I know that some people have a personal aversion to tattoos so I guess I should throw it out there that I already have one and plan on getting several more in the months to come.
