<![CDATA[Artists Beware. Some of these people offering shows in other states or cities are out to burn you. They sell you an idea, take your time and money and then your art disappears. There are high dollar scumbags and bottom feeders waiting for victims. I have been fooled too. Bankruptcy enables them to own your art even if they never paid you a dime. Florida Galleries are famous for this trick because of the state bankruptcy laws. Only work with reputable galleries with permanent addresses and write ups in National Magazines or media. Can't find out about them on the internet ........then do not do business. They can and will steal a good idea and have it made in Mexico or China too. Your great idea is commercialized before you can use it to benefit your life. I know you need the money but this is not the route. Musicians have always needed a day job. Artists need day jobs in this economy in order to keep your dignity and keep your prices high. Good art is selling again in the galleries, but junk is still junk. Start your own Co-op Gallery with other artists. Find an existing group like Kettle Art. Deep Ellum art is thriving, low key. Bishop Arts district has an artisans gallery where you can consign work. Museum stores need small gifts on consignment. Do legitimate art festivals and music festivals like Kerrville Folk. Please,......... someone remind me not to do something stupid too.
