We are seeking a reliable, mature afternoon and weekend kennel worker. This position is normally about 6-8 hours per week and is obviously part-time. Regular hours are M-F starting about 4:30PM or 5:00PM for about an hour and on weekends there is about 1.5 hours of work every weekend on the day of your choosing if there are no pets in the hospital, or about 1 hour Sat afternoon and Sunday morning AND afternoon if there are pets in the hospital.

Experience is a MAJOR asset but not an absolute requirement. Being able to fill in (if needed) weekday and Saturday mornings would be a big plus! Job duties include keeping the pets in clean cages, walking dogs, feeding and watering pets, hospital cleaning and maintenence as well as occassionally assisting the doctor in pet treatments.

In my opinion, these hours are perfect for a college student at Collin College which is just down the road from us. Also, a mature and dependable High School student from PESH might also work well. And, for pre-vet students, you can NOT get into vet school without experience working in an animal hospital!

This is NOT a temporary or school-year position. We want an employee that will be here for a long time, year round.

You must have reliable transportation and can never have a day off. You can never not take care of the pets on the hospital over the weekend. There is no excuse acceptable for not being here. We prefer someone who either lives or goes to school nearby.

This is not the position for you if you are afraid of/allergic to dogs or cats, do not have reliable transportation, are immature or unreliable, need/want longer hours or bigger pay, plan to keep looking for another job after being hired here, can not lift 50 pounds without concern, plan to leave during the summer, plan to have ANY days off.

Respond to this offer by email only: pantherparkjobs@peoplepc.com No phone calls please!

Resumes should be included in the body of the email, not included as an attachment. WE WILL NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS AND WILL DISREGUARD APPLICATIONS FROM FOLKS WHO CAN'T FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS. Please include a brief summary of your past veterinary/pet care related experience and your request for hourly salary rate (please do the math . . . . 6-8 hours per week is NOT going to earn $100 per week).

If you wish to "Google" our location: 2320 Los Rios Blvd Plano, Texas 75074 but do NOT come to the office unless you have been invited for an interview! If your application looks interesting, you will receive a followup email requesting additional information.

Coding
Delivering quality healthcare depends on capturing accurate and timely medical data. Medical coding professionals fulfill this need as key players in the healthcare workplace.
Health information coding is the transformation of verbal descriptions of diseases, injuries, and procedures into numeric or alphanumeric designations. Originally, medical coding was performed to classify mortality (cause of death) data on death certificates. However, coding is also used to classify morbidity and procedural data. The coding of health-related data permits access to medical records by diagnoses and procedures for use in clinical care, research, and education.
Since the implementation of the federal government's first prospective payment system in 1983, there has been a great deal more emphasis placed on medical coding. Currently, reimbursement of hospital and physician claims for Medicare patients depends entirely on the assignment of codes to describe diagnoses, services, and procedures provided. In the 1990s the federal government attacked the problem of healthcare fraud and abuse. As the basis for reimbursement, appropriate medical coding has become crucial as healthcare providers seek to assure compliance with official coding guidelines.
There are many demands for accurately coded data from the medical record. In addition to their use on claims for reimbursement, codes are included on data sets used to evaluate the processes and outcomes of healthcare. Coded data are also used internally by institutions for quality management activities, case-mix management, planning, marketing and other administrative and research activities.—Excerpt from www.ahima.org

Certified Professional Coder (CPC®)
AAPC's gold standard CPC® credential demonstrates a broad encompassing knowledge and expertise in reviewing and assigning the correct coding of physician services, procedures and diagnosis for medical claims. It validates an individual's ability to assign codes based on national coding guidelines and operative reports, comprehend medical terminology and human anatomy and apply billing reimbursement guidelines. The CPC® examination consists of questions regarding the correct application of CPT®, HCPCS Level II procedure and supply codes and ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes used for billing professional medical services to insurance companies.
Take the PMCC Course and CPC® exam if you code or would like to code in the following places or situations:
• Physician office or group
• Hospital-associated physician office or group
• Health system-associated physician office or group
• Home health agency
