Hello, My name is Josh Mills and I am looking for people who are interested in learning guitar or improving there guitar/musical development. I am 22, have been playing for 9 years (almost 10), and just recently received my Associates Degree in music from Collin College. As far as my 'resume' is concerned, I have placed and won in guitar competitions, attended masterclasses by Gabriel Bianco (internationally renown classical guitarist, and one of the youngest to win the internationally prestigious GFA guitar competition), Daniel Olmos, Raul Olmos, and I performed as an accompanist in a William Kanengiser Concerto (a grammy award winning classical guitarist) in a guitar orchestra.

I am a pretty laid back guy, quiet, and reserved. I am very easy to get along with, and I have a blast teaching/playing music. I teach the following styles/genres: jazz, rock, classical, metal, acoustic, etc. I also teach technique, music theory, perspectives on improvisation, and creative musical approaches to the respective guitar styles. I live in north Dallas, near Plano, and, if you are interested in learning more about music or guitar, I would love to see if we can work something out. My rates are as follows:
$15.00 - 30 min. lesson
$22.50 - 45 min. lesson
$30.00 - 60 min. lesson

If you would like guitar lessons (or know of someone who would), please email me at jdmills_email@yahoo.com. You can also get a hold of me at (469) 964-9377. The students range from 9 years of age to 49 years young, so I teach all age groups. I can travel to your location, or you can come to mine. Happy Practicing.

Let me drive to your home and give your child some speech therapy lessons. I can help them correct their speech sound mistakes, using fun approaches, in the comfort of your home. Reasonable Rates - less than half of what private speech clinics charge. My Spring Special: 1st lesson with your child is only $15.00!

One on one speech therapy is great! Fast progress can be made with individual speech therapy sessions. Private speech lessons can expedite and compliment any in-school speech therapy the child may be receiving.

Exceptional GMAT/GRE Teacher: Please contact me via email at :

• I have a decade of formal teaching experience. I taught math and physics at a Boston high school for five years and I had exceptional success with my students; I feel that this is primarily attributed to my love of teaching. I went back to school to earn an MBA and I graduated with high honors and earned an assistantship to do a master of mathematical finance degree during which time I became a CFA institute scholar.

• Most importantly, I have taught the math section of the GMAT and GRE for the past five years and my students have found impressive success. Many of my students have expressed to me that after their time with me, they truly understood math for the first time and that they saw these exams in a different, positive light.

• I understand that the math on the GMAT and GRE can seem daunting, however I employ an individualized and systematic approach that will allow you to progressively master the necessary math topics. You will be able to learn the material and you will be able to employ your knowledge come test day. I will stand behind you 110% and do all that I can to facilitate your learning and score improvements.

• In addition to using the Official Guides, I have an original GMAT/GRE math curriculum of close to 2000 self-produced math problems. These problems are categorized by topics such as rates, unit conversions, work, and percents. During our lessons together, I will show you the most important skills and methods for a particular topic. We will use specific problems as case studies to transform your knowledge and the way that you think about these problems. Then, after each lesson, I provide you with a specific homework assignment to work on. This assignment will allow you to solidify what you learned during our lesson. At the beginning on the next lesson, we typically spend about 15 minutes going over any homework problems that gave you a hard time. The process is very strategic and our ultimate goal is to strengthen your weaknesses and to polish your strengths until they are second nature.

• At each step of the process, I use a variety of diagnostic tests and tools to track your progress so we always know where you stand and we can track your improvement and pinpoint your areas of need. In addition, during our time together, you can call me or email me at any time. I am here to help you succeed. Everything that we do together is built upon what you need at that time and how you learn best. I think that you will find this to be the best educational investment that you have ever made.

Please contact me via email. My schedule fills up quickly and in the event that I am fully committed, I would be happy to recommend another outstanding tutor who will be well-suited to your individual GMAT or GRE needs. In addition, although it is not my specialty, I can recommend an outstanding verbal tutor for the GMAT or the GRE.

I wish you all the best and I hope that we will be able to work together!!!

I have been playing guitar for 35 plus years. I am a self taught player and have many years experience performing in local area bands. In the 80’s and 90’s I was the cofounder and guitarist in a popular local band for approx. ten years playing blues, and classic rock. I have several years experience in recording both live on location and in the studio. I also have experience in running live sound for local bands. I am currently working with a Praise band in a large local church. My early influences were The Ventures, The Beatles, Travis Womack, Don Rich, SRV, and the late night tunes on Wolf Man Jack‘s radio program out of Del Rio Texas.

I retired from my engineering job a couple of years ago and I am now teaching beginning guitar to students of all ages. I specialize in teaching guitar to children. I have been teaching guitar for many years and I get results. For younger children it is necessary for a parent to attend each lesson and act as a coach when the student practices for 30 minutes each day.

In addition to the fun aspect of learning to play the guitar, studies have show that music exercises parts of the brain that we don't normally use in other academic endeavors. Learning to read music notation in the tradionally way will increase your child's IQ by at least 10 percentage points.

Please conrtact me via email to discuss this important part of your child's education.

Guitar Lessons - Are You an Illiterate Guitarist?

Let me preface this by saying that if you are happy with your level of playing and knowledge of music, I am very happy for you! Don't read any more of this note.

However, if you would like to improve your skills and further your knowledge of music, read on!

Let's imagine that you want to be an actor, but you can't read English or any other language. How are you going to learn your lines? You will need to have someone read them to you so you can memorize them.

Now let's imagine that you are a guitar player, but you can't read music notation. When you hear a song that you would like to play, you will probably sit in front of your computer listing to a mp3 of the song over and over, trying to figure out how to play it.

If you learn to read music notation you would be able to pick up a piece of sheet music and play the song.

There are other benefits to learning to read music notation. You will learn about how scales are used in songs. You will learn what notes fit with the chords of the song. You will learn how chord progressions are built on the major scale.

If you would like to learn more about how reading music notation can make you a better guitarist, contact me and we'll talk about it. But more importantly, have fun with your music!

Get the Best
From the Best,

Then

Rest Assured.

Fooling around with your money to a teacher to learn how to play in the key of "C" for a year can't be thrilling to your soul.

I will teach anyone to play the piano in 6 different keys in 45 minutes. Don't accept any excuses if another piano teacher can't, because all the methods they use are 'ROTE'.

The Diacovery Method in learning is almost 3 to 5 times faster than all other 87 'rote' methods used by all piano teachers today.

I know, I taught the old incorrect 'rote' method for many years and all, and I mean ALL, other teachers still use, unfortunately.

I was trained personally by Dr.Duckworth, the professor of Child Pedagogy at Northwestern University.

Our rates are $15 for 45 minute lesson periods, or $60 a month in advance and with notification you get allowance for any missed lessons.

I don't charge you for something you don't get.

That is not the usual monthly fee of $100-$200 for 4-30 minute lessons paid in advance and you lose the money regardless if you attend or not.

You lose if you don't go to class or you lose if you do because all you learn to like is to play is in the Key of 'C' for most of the first year.

It's your choice.
My students start at five years and up. I teach them how to play in all 12 keys, major and minor, quickly.

This gives them ability to hear and play correctly using all of the black keys equally well from the start.

Did I say 'HEAR'? That is something not taught in ROTE systems.

You don't 'sniff or lick' the piano but touch, seeing and hearing is taught from day one. No so in ROTE systems.

I have over 45 years teaching experience.

Plus I still play concerts regularly.

By the way, get your child a piano so he can start out learning correctly. It can be a low cost one or rented, applying the rental to purchase at some stores. It can always be sold if necessary. The store where I teach in Dallas will even give you the first months lessons for free. They like what my students learn, you will too.

James Dodson’s pioneering work on the level premium system led to the formation of the Society for Equitable Assurances on Lives and Survivorship (now commonly known as Equitable Life) in London in 1762. This was the first life insurance company to use premium rates which were calculated scientifically for long-term life policies, using Dodson’s work. The company still exists, though it has run into difficulties recently. After Dodson’s death in 1757, Edward Rowe Mores took over the leadership of the group that eventually became the Society for Equitable Assurances in 1762. It was he who specified that the chief official should be called an ‘actuary’ (Ogborn, 1956). Previously, the use of the term had been restricted to an official who recorded the decisions, or ‘acts’, of ecclesiastical courts, in ancient times originally the secretary of the Roman senate, responsible for compiling the Acta Senatus (Faculty and Institute of Actuaries 2004). Other companies which did not originally use such mathematical and scientific methods most often failed or were forced to adopt the methods pioneered by Equitable (Bühlmann 1997 p. 166).

In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, computational complexity was limited to manual calculations. The actual calculations required to compute fair insurance premiums are rather complex. The actuaries of that time developed methods to construct easily-used tables, using sophisticated approximations called commutation functions, to facilitate timely, accurate, manual calculations of premiums (Slud 2006). Over time, actuarial organizations were founded to support and further both actuaries a

Studying voice for over 5 years at Florida State University, University of Central Florida, and most recently with Amanda Earhart of Tom McKinney Studios, I am fortunate enough to have been singing professionally for 3 years, working with many companies including Walt Disney World, Fox Sports Network, NASCAR, American Airlines Center, Dallas Mavericks, singer/songwriters ‘The Wilshires,’ and more. As a trained vocalist, I love to share what I have learned over the years, and aide others in discovering and developing their own best voice. Following the teaching styles of Jennifer Hamady through her book The Art of Singing: I strive to work with singers and help them release mental and vocal fears and tensions, establish confidence and vocal strength, and embrace personal and musical optimism. I also help those outside of the music realm to discover and share their true and best selves through music.

I teach the technique “Singing with the Ease of Speech,” that caters to all singers, beginning to advanced, aiming to create ease in the vocal chords, expanding range and control. No matter what your level of singer, from beginner to professional, I can help you gain a better understanding and control of your voice. I have students of varying ages, 7 and up! It is never too early or too late to discover your voice!

This technique has been used by international recording artists, as well as Grammy award winners.

The best cure for a sluggish mind is to disturb its routine."
[William H. Danworth]

Hello. I'm a professional musician, composer, and teacher of drumset/snare drum. Been doing both for 2+ decades. I've recorded, performed, and toured here in the USA and in Europe. Started my schooling in France (w/Alan Silva)and finished up at UNT (Music Performance) in Denton (w/Henry Okstel, Rick Latham, etc). I've played Jazz and Bebop, Top 40, techno/electronika/rave, rock, heavy metal, blues, Greek & Middle Eastern, some symphonic, pop, various avant-garde styles, "nuevo" flamenco, funk, hip-hop, latin, folky singer-songwriter, reggae/dub, drum 'n' bass, totally improvized music, C&W, and even lizard lounge styles. Currently accepting students from beginner to advanced. Age range of my students= 6 yrs old to early 50's...

Beginning students are those that don't know anything about playing drumset except for the fact that it seems like it would be a fun thing to do. Maybe they have a drumset, maybe they don't. (If you don't have a drumset I can help you find one without breaking the bank...). Maybe they want to further hone the skills that they're learning in school music programs, ie. reading skills, snare drum skills, the rudiments...

Intermediate drummers to Advanced drummers are those drummers that have been playing for a while and have realized that there may be more to playing the drumset than they're currently capable of or even aware of. This includes conceptions of drumming and music, 4-limb inter-dependence, and music styles that may seem "mysterious"...like Bebop (Jazz). Maybe they want to learn how to read and write.
These drummers may have a pretty decent handle on things, maybe play in a band, or have played in several bands but feel like their lack of technique (like stick control, limb control, phrasing, syncopation) is holding them back. They may feel they've "reached a wall" in their technical abilities and/or their musical abilities and expression: same old licks, same old beats, same old fills, etc.

Self-taught drummers may feel the desire to develop more of the "formal" training into their playing (the rudiments, reading, ear-training, snare drum chops, Jazz syncopations/chops, odd meter playing, "flow", etc). Maybe they just want the input of a teacher who can challenge them into other areas of music and drumming. Maybe they've heard a playback of themselves in a recording...
LESSONS range from $25 (my place) to $35 (your place). Questions regarding lessons, study plans, or music in general, are encouraged and welcomed.

Hello!

My name is Perry Brooks Nichols and I am a professional classical and electric guitarist performing and recording in the Dallas area. I studied with Robert Guthrie at SMU for many years, as well as Brad McLemore of "Soul Food Cafe" and professional jazz musician Chuck Pangburn at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

I have studied guitar for over 15 years, and I am familiar with all styles. I teach using a foundation in classical/flamenco style and technique. I have found that for my own career as a recording artist in both the classical and electric guitar fields that the classical/flamenco styles are the most useful for developing and training the hands to be a consumate professional.

I prefer to teach beginner to intermediate students of any age. I also can provide pro and amateur electric guitarists an in-depth study of correct hand postures and left-hand/right-hand technique which can help to refine their overall technique and stylistic approach. I can also advise professional electric guitarists on their electronics, effects pedals, and amplifiers to acheive their own individual sound.

My teaching specialties include: Sight Reading, Music Theory, Scales and Modes, Left and Right Hand Technique, the Classical Repetoire, Flamenco techniques and repetoire, and the works of Sor, Giuliani, and Carcassi, Brouwer, Aguado, and Villa-Lobos.

I have an in-depth knowledge of the stylistic approaches and techniques of such guitarists as Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Randy Rhoads, EVH and Buckethead, to name a few, and I can teach you the components they use to build their signature licks. I generally don't make a practice of transcribing work of contemporary guitarist, but I can upon request.

I have a vast library of music, so I can draw from my own resources to teach you, or from a method of your choosing. I also will create cd's for listening material for your enjoyment and educational purposes.

I can drive to you or meet you anywhere of your preference. I prefer to work anywhere in the Greater Dallas or Highland Park area. I teach people of all ages, from children to adults. I think everyone is on an even keel, if they are willing and eager to learn.

If you would like to hear example of my original guitar work, which is a mixture of styles, they are on my myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/crowyoteblue

I am a Private Tutor/Instructor and my subject of choice is Math, but I also tutor students in Reading, Writing, and Social Studies. I tutor students and adults in the SW Dallas area at the student's home and at the local library. My rates are very reasonable and I am available to tutor Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

I am a certified teacher, certified to teach ESL grades PK-12 and all subjects for grades PK-4. I taught 3rd grade for 4 years and have found that tutoring students outside of the classroom setting is my passion. I have tutored students in grades 2-7 for over five years. I am currently a Math, Reading, and Writing tutor for several students in grades 2-6. I love to teach kids one-on-one or in small groups. I am very patient and am able to teach subjects for all learning styles.

I strive to help students find a love for learning because I, myself, am a life-long learner and I try to motivate my students to become the same.
