<![CDATA[Yea, it's true. I have played with a drummer at his house and he says to me "This band will rock" and "yea, lets do this band", only to NEVER receive any response to phone, emails. Repeat , rinse, and repeat again with other musicians :p I can take it if I'm not the quality, style, look, attitude ect. but do everyone here a favor, if your not interested just say so and be cool. We all can't fit into the cookie cutter molds that other musicians have set up for themselves, but for gods sake we can at least be civil and good folks to each other. If someone doesn't fit into your scheme, just call em, be polite and cool and just tell em that's not really what your looking for. Please don't answer ads that are looking for cover players and then show up complaining about being in a band......whats that all about, then try and sell the band on the idea of doing originals. Looking for a cover player for a band......don't do covers and don't like bands.....what did he show up for. Please don't show up for a position in a band, set up your rig and then refuse to play, what the hell is that?? Your not comfortable enough to play?? What did you show up for?? Seems like alot of players out there will NOT work with musicians that they deem "less skilled" or "not up to mustard". But still have some innate need to answer ads or make stupid promises about being in the band because you can't sac up and say....no thank you......that was tough. Maybe it would be wise for people here to learn to commit to a band and work instead of looking for something to "plop" into with no work effort. There is no level here in South Florida where you have reached the "pinnacle of no work by skills", remember....these cats you squash now, can be the people who squash you later. I'm looking to play 70's, 80's, 90's rock, I need a few folks to play and hang and work on a sound and presentation to make a band. I'm willing to put in the work and work with band members to get a show together. Be at least an intermediate player. I play guitar, looking for others nearby to Coral Springs. That would be Psychology, Mental Health, DCF, related agencies, and I'm sure in other areas as well...people just don't return calls unless it benefits them. Period. I have worked in numerous other states and only here do I find this. When I return a call many times people seem surprised...HUH? I'm returning your call...DUH!! In other states if you ask someone at WalMart where something is they will walk you to it. Down here they tell you "I'm on break ask someone else" HUH?? I'm guessing musicians, professionals, and others shop at WalMart and have adopted their who gives a fuck attitude unless it benefits me. Welcome to South Floriduh!!!]]>

Where is the rehearsal (house or studio) 4. Pictures or video of the band (what you have now) 5. Are you trying to gig out, or jam at your house for fun. When I don't get the above info, I don't bother chasing the person down. It means they're not organized and they're hoping someone comes in who has gigs and is doing all the work. Keep dreaming. ]]>

<![CDATA[it's not just musicians and bands, it's been an ever-growing trend in our culture. i'm talking narcissism as a way of life, and the decline of empathy and common courtesy they reply to people when it suits them, if it doesn't, they can't be bothered you're supposed to take the non-reply as a no. you will have to learn to do so, unfortunately that's how it's become and getting more prevalent i used to get my nose out of joint on this, now i refuse to let it affect me just keep doing things the right way and set an example there is no other recourse 12 years ago i had a venue that a college guy rented out to throw a surprise graduation party for his older brother. he called everyone he knew, and everyone that knew his brother, and sent them invites. Then he followed up with phone calls the night before to determine the number coming, and purchased food and drink accordingly for 100, because 120 said they would come, as of the night before. 5 showed up. pure narcissism, they didn't want to say they weren't coming. they didn't want to deal with that, easier to just please the requester, then make up a story if asked later why they weren't there of course they didn't bother to volunteer an excuse, just no-showed and never called or emailed to apologize. that's the way it is, my friends sad but true you do the right thing. keep doing it. it will be contagious, hopefully]]>

<![CDATA[I completely understand how you feel and can totally relate...For some reason(and I'm just guessing here) when people answer an ad that was placed here if they (1) don't like the way you sounded on the phone, (2) don't like the way you look in a picture, (3) don't like your music samples etc... They don't feel obligated to be courteous and return an email or phone call giving you a thank you,but it's just not what i'm/were looking for...I don't why this is,but i've had it done to me at least a dozen times if not more. It's gotten to the point where i'm just not surprised by it anymore...These people have no class and lack professionalism. And BTW, anybody that has a problem with me posting this follow up opinion here can kiss my A** ]]>

<![CDATA[Why is it people will not return contact or follow up? I had a band, they wouldn't tell me who they are and asked for a sample of playing. I send it asking them let me know if you like it or if you don't but let me know either way. Never hear a word back.I get in touch with a person forming a band, has players,we traded phone numbers, missed each others calls then i tried repeated to call and left messages and re sent another e-mail saying hey I have tried to contact you and left messages. No reply from the e-mail no call backs. I do not get it, Is this the new norm? Not follow up and who cares? We already have a hard time here doing music and this just adds to the problem. At least follow up and tell the person or band or whatever yes no, thanks, no thanks. Just don't drop off the map never to be heard from again. Does anyone have any insight on this? Why does it have to be this way, i just want to play music and not deal with the BS like this.]]>

<![CDATA[Two guitarists and bassist looking for drummer and high range singer. Will settle for mid range singer for short term. Others have joined but can't seem to commit. If you are kidding yourself into thinking you have the time but don't, please don't contact me. I will send you a 30 song list that you must want to play or this type of band is not for you. I will be singing lead vocal on a few songs only but will not be the lead singer. I can add harmonies and can throw some easier keyboards in there. Gigs will be played but if that's a MUST for you, this may not be for you. This is a start up. Enjoyment of playing live comes first and money second. The key here is that this band will play rock from stated years but not be a typical classic rock band in that there will be NO blues, bluesy rock or psychedelic music played. If you like that, please join a band with that genre. This band is for those willing to NOT play ANYTHING from OR heavily influenced by late 60's or early 70's music. That means no Zepplin, Stones, Pink Floyd, Cream, Hendrix, etc since it's not a "classic rock" band. We are playing pop, rock and hard melodic rock of the mid 70's to early 80's so that it's hard rock/pop rock but without falling into the same list of songs out there. Only a couple of standards will be played but not THAT many. Not closed to other types of newer music to throw in, here and there, but not the type already mentioned. I would rather play Michael Jackson and KC & The Sunshine band than that bluesy/psychedelic rock stuff. Please do not join this band if, after you become an integral part of the band, you start pressuring to add "just this one" Zep or Floyd song after you initially agreed you would not. I've already had that happen and had to leave the band after investing time with them since it was figured I would give in because of so much time I had invested already. You have other bands and musicians here to contact for that kind of music. Music we will be playing is in the neighborhood of Boston, Foreigner, Tom Petty, Steve Miller Band, Styx, etc, and not always their biggest hits. We play soft Spanish rock such as Julieta Venegas, Aterciopelados, Cafe Tacuba, Soda Stereo, Enanitos Verdes, Acida, Pastora, Jarabe de Palo etc. If you can sing back up vocals that is a plus. Our first gig is on April 8th. We do this for FUN. We do get paid a bit, but just enough for free drinks and dinner. As I said, this is for fun, as we all work, but are pretty much free in our schedules. If you want to join, you really must want to play for the love of music and certainly not to make your ends meet. We, like the rest of the serious musicians who post here, don't want to waste time practicing and then your wife/kids/job/dog etc. does not let you gig (or practice). Im an all-around player. played in jazz, funk, rock, pop and blues bands... i am a songwriter too and have performed live before many times (meaning i am not the shy guy standing in a the same spot kind of player ) . Can play with slaps, finger-style and pick, so whatever sound you look for i can do it. I can solo, but i understand that the bass player's work is to make and maintain the groove, so whatever the music needs is preferred over me wanting to show-off my personal skills. As a person, i don't have ego problems at all, i know its all about teamwork and dedication. Very open minded and committed to music, sociable and outgoing ( a bit crazy maybe XD) but no alcohol or drugs. Don't mind people who do alcohol or drugs, just as long as its not me doing it i am fine with it. As for my equipment, i have a hartke bass amp and cabinet 500 watts (good enough for a medium size concert) and a dan armstrong plexiglass bass (in the picture)...it has great sound.
