<![CDATA[A Good Dog Assistance Dog, LLC A Good Dog Assistance Dogs, LLC is a training organization dedicated to training dogs for people with qualified disabilities and children with Autism. Training These wonderful animals is an expensive venture, to say the least, and in order to pay for the medical testing, feeding, and care of these dogs, while they are with us for up to a year of training, we have decided to offer some classes to help with off-setting the expenses. We have trained over 6000 dogs and their owners, trained for the military, one of few certified military work dog handlers, trained and placed dogs with Indiana Department of Corrections, Indianapolis Police Department, Cleveland PD, Columbus Ohio PD, Evansville IN PD, Springfield ILL PD, and with several foreign police agencies. We are certified through Purdue University School of Vet Medicine as a Behaviorist and have many other certifications to go along with that. We are firm believers in continuing education for trainers, and attend conferences yearly in order to keep up with current trends in the world of dog training. We have achieved many titles on many dogs, including, but not limited to, conformation championships, obedience titles, Schutzhund titles, Rally titles, herding titles, etc. We do not believe in using only one specific method of training, but rather, we incorporate many methods in order to achieve a well balanced well trained obedience, and happy dog. All group classes, privates and boarding/training are provided with a well rounded manual that describes all commands that are taught, and has many other useful articles written by us. Basic Class This Class is open to all NON AGGRESSIVE dogs that have had little to no training. Age is not an issue, the dogs may be anywhere from 9 weeks of age, to 12 yrs of age(yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks). What is Taught: • Loose leash walking • Sit • Down • Come • Off Cost of Class: $50.00 Length of Class: 3 weeks Intermediate Class This class is designed, again for any age of dog, and is open to non-aggressive dogs. At the end of this class, you will be offered the opportunity to have your dog tested for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test(a 10 point test). Cost of this test in NOT included in the class fee. Pre-Requisite: Basic, or proof of basic training, Vaccines or Titer Testing What is Taught: • Heel • Loose Leash Walking • Sit/Stay(1-2 minutes with minimal distractions) • Down/Stay(3-5 minutes with minimal distractions) • Come(from a distance of 20-30 feet, with minimal distractions) • Leave it(do not burp, fart, sniff, scratch, eat, lick, or look at something, such as food on ground, etc) • No(a very useful word, that is overused in our lives today!) • Release(dog is finished and can do their own thing now) • Off(put all 4 feet on the floor, as opposed to jumping on people or other objects) • Hugs(gives the dog permission to jump on the human who is inviting the dog) We will also be addressing basic behavioral problems and solutions in this class. Length of class: 6 weeks Cost of Class: $75.00 Cost of CGC test for class members only: $10.00. If you are not taking this class, but wish to have your dog tested, please feel free to call for information on this. Non class members/dogs, cost of CGC test: $25.00 Super Dog Class This class is designed for owners who want to take their dogs to the next level. These are folks that would like to possibly compete in AKC Rally/Obedience with their dogs, or who simply want a dog that they can take to Mizner Park BLVD on a Sunday afternoon for a leisurely stroll, without the headaches and worries of the dogs dragging them around the place! Most of the commands taught here, are the basics that all the service dogs that we train know by the end of their course (this does not include actual task oriented commands!) Pre-Requisites: Intermediate Class, or Proof of Intermediate Training. What is Taught: • Heel (with extreme distractions, around wheelchairs, weaving in/out around other dogs or objects, etc.) • Heel Right(heeling on the right side, rather than the left) • Sit/Stay(with extreme distractions, such as food, children running past, etc) • Down/Stay(with extreme distractions, such as food, children running past, etc) • Come(20-30 feet, with a very light line—fishing line, and extreme distractions) • Drop on recall • Military About Turns, left and right • Return to Heel position • Go under(go under a chair or a table) • Place(go to an object that is the dogs, to lie on quietly, such as a blanket or a bed)(This command is taught from a distance) • Go Away(walk away from the handler, to direction pointed) • Over(directed jump over objects) • Start on Retrieve(and, yes, any dog can learn to retrieve, given the proper motivation) • Start on Off-Leash Work • Stand For Exam(great for the vet, or groomer) • Make friends(go to a person to be petted) • Wait(Brief pause, such as waiting to get in/out of vehicle) • Load(get into a vehicle) • Easy(walk slowly and gently) • Busy (go potty. Yes, your dog can learn to potty on command!) • Get Dressed(steady to put on collar/leash/harness) • Tug(tug on an object that you are asked to) • Touch(touch an object with your nose or paw) • Up (jump up on an object, such as a table, again, great for vet/groomer/etc.) Length of the Class: 8-10 weeks Cost of the Class: $150.00 We also offer Private courses. Each Private course is detailed with the same commands as the above group classes, but is for dogs that have issues with other dogs/humans(IE, they would like to snack on them) or for owners who simply cannot attend the group classes. Basic Private: Includes same commands as basic group class. It is a 2-3 week boarding, in my home, not a kennel environment, where there are other dogs, and living in an environment similar to their own home life. When you pick up your highly trained dog, after 2-3 weeks, you will receive a manual with all the training notes, pictures of your dog in training, your CGC paperwork, and much much more. You will also need to spend at least an hour with us, learning the basics of commands that your dog has been taught while here. We will provide, for you, 2-3 more follow-up sessions, at our location, so that you can continue to take pride in your highly trained dog. Most dogs are concerned at first after you leave, so I minimize separation anxiety with frequent long walks, play time, or outside sits by the lake, so they have new smells, sights etc. to stimulate and distract them. (It works)! Whether your best friend likes lots of walks or is just content to "chill out" and sleep, he will enjoy staying with me in my home. My guests have the run of the house, are welcome to watch TV on my lap, survey the world from a couch, or come over for a reassuring scratch. They can sleep where they wish, or join me in bed. You can count on me to maintain their routine for walks, "meds" (if required), meals and bedtime to give them a sense of continuity and security. Trips to the dog park are available on request, to get some off the leash exercise and fun playing with other dogs. All guests must have their vaccinations current so that there is no chance of contacting kennel cough or other diseases. Also please ensure they have been bathed and are flea free.
