The volunteers will be involved in teaching English language to the young people, especially those who are coming from disadvantaged families. English language will help them to access further studies or employment in the tourism sector which is growing in Zanzibar, hence empower them to fight poverty. Other activities will include organizing sports and games for children in the local primary schools. On arrival, the volunteers will receive one day orientation, getting familiar with the culture of the community, understanding various program policies, sharing fears and expectations, team building activities, etc. Cultural exchange: Each country or culture presented in the project will have an opportunity to do a presentation. Volunteers are encouraged to be prepared beforehand to present their countries and cultures. There is a visitor Center, an Exhibit Hall and the Mangrove Hall which is available for meetings, programs, weddings etc. The Park is located at the east end of Sheridan Street in Hollywood, just west of the intra-coastal waterway. As you can well imagine, volunteers are extremely important to the park. Literally, the park could not function without it's volunteers. The recent budget issues that have become so prominent in our minds have only made this even more true. There is a whole array of tasks which you could do at the Park. And there is also a wide variety of amounts of time that would be useful. We would like to host foreign volunteers because we believe that their interaction with the children, during education and vocational classes and other therapeutic activities will be of great benefit as our students have little or no chances to meet and live with people from other cultures. The intercultural dimension that their presence will generate will also be welcomed and valued by the local staffs. The support that the volunteers will give to our teaching staff , particularly those teaching English, will be invaluable. The role of the volunteers will be assisting local teacher in classes like teaching basic conversation in English, helping teacher in giving training on physical activities of the disabled students like making simple handicrafts, playing, doing simple sport etc. The volunteers' influence on students is expected to create a sense of knowledge of other realities of the disabled kids and other cultures in a way that improves their own perception of themselves and what they can achieve. Also to open the mind of international volunteers that the disabled students also need attention to face their future. It will also give opportunity for the international volunteers about the treatment that should be done by the families of disabled children.
